Team Curse has officially announced that Kim "Miso" Jae-hun, will be their new starting mid laner. Miso, formerly the top laner for the Jin Air Green Wings Falcons, will be changing his name to Fenix.
Curse states that Fenix was the strongest option mechanically and that mechanics was the most important factor in selecting their mid laner.
“Mechanics were what we were looking for most” said Team Curse’s Head Analyst Mark Zimmerman ”Good laning and teamfighting are critical since warding, rotations, and communication as well as other team situations can be taught more easily.”
Curse were trialing multiple players including David "YahooDotCom" Chang and Lae-Young “Keane” Jang for the starting position but chose to go with Fenix. “The reason I have no doubt he’ll be the strongest mid-laner in LCS is his work ethic and coachability. Most top mid-laners have mechanics, but these qualities set Fenix above the rest. He doesn’t have an ego like many of the players I’ve worked with before.” said Curse's Head Coach Peter Zhang.
Under Riot Games' new rules, all visas must be approved before competing on stage. Fenix's P1-A visa has not been approved so it's unsure when he will be eligible to participate in the North American LCS. Curse states that they have initiated the process for a P1-A visa but they ultimately have no control over when and if the visa is granted. Curse states that they will be using either YahooDotCom or Ben "LOD" deMunck as substitutes if the visa application is halted.
Counter Logic Gaming's Head Coach, William "Scarra" Li, approved of the pick up. He tweeted that "Miso was the best pickup for curse to take to make a solid run at spring split. Excited to see him in the LCS after following him for a bit."
