Cyberbike pedals to US Wiis

Eko Software's stationary-bike exercise game set to make North American debut on Nintendo's console this summer.

It's been a year and a half since Nintendo last released an exercise game for its Wii console, but kinetic gamers might soon be able to give their copies of Wii Fit Plus a welcome respite. Bigben Interactive today announced that its Cyberbike stationary bike peripheral would be launching in North America this summer, packed in with the Eko Software-developed Cyberbike Cycling Sports game.

It's a Huff-and-Puffy.
It's a Huff-and-Puffy.

Already released in Europe, the Cyberbike is a magnetic resistance stationary exercise bike that plugs into the Wii through a GameCube controller port. The bike's resistance level can be adjusted with a tension control knob, and its adjustable seat can accommodate riders up to 286 lbs. The handlebars include dual analog sticks and a complement of buttons, making the peripheral compatible with any Wii game playable with Nintendo's Classic Controller.

As for the game designed specifically for the peripheral, Cyberbike Cycling Sports includes Story and Fitness modes, as well as a multiplayer mode where participants take turns riding the bike. The Story mode puts players in control of a variety of pedal-powered vehicles and challenges them to race through 18 circuits, while the Fitness mode simply lets the user set a time, distance, or calories-burned goal and runs until that mark is reached.

Pricing for the package has not yet been determined, but a Bigben representative told GameSpot that details should be locked down within a month.

drk, a real one also requires attention , if you dont take care of it itll rust break and still ull be paying to fix it when it breaks so does it matter how peopel decide to do this ,, seriously people use stationary bike sall the time and now they can use one while their playing a game giving them more incentive to do so

You guys are completely ignoring the fact that unlike a real bicycle, you'll be able to use this exercise bike on games other than Cyberbike. Just like the Wii Fit balance board.

Here's an idea, GO OUTSIDE. My friends used to pull bikes out of the trash and fix them. Hmm, next to nothing for a REAL bike, or $100-$200 for a fake one?

The future is now. Why sit in a car and drive 30 mins to a gym and then back or go outside where there are people ready to take you? Comfort of your own house, challenges to beat, shower and change without a bunch of creeps in a lockerroom looking at your junk.

Buying a bike is exponentially cheaper you know... And a lot better for you, physically, socially and economically. Riding this for 30 minutes then hauling your fat arse into a 4x4 to pick up your disgusting little brats at school about 2 minutes away isn't going to help...

"The handlebars include dual analog sticks and a complement of buttons, making the peripheral compatible with any Wii game playable with Nintendo's Classic Controller." Haha wow. Imagine playing Smash Bros or Golden Eye with that... Still,I guess it's better than any regular exercise bike.At least it lets you play games at the same time.

I wonder what the price is going to be on this 'package' - I mean, an actual exercise bike is not inexpensive, but I guess none of the exercise games can be cheap since most come with something.

I cant help but to laugh. But hey, if this bike remote is truely like a classic remote just with paddles and a seat, then I guess that means that now people can play VC games and exercise at the same time :P

But yeah I remember some 3rd party released some pedals for PS2, i always wanted to try them, but a whole bike in my living room just would be too big, Ill just have to stick with the bike in the basement :(

Are they for real? Bycicle is one of the most pragmatic sports, and stationary bike already ruins it!
