Mythic Entertainment has released information about the class system used in its upcoming online role-playing game Dark Age of Camelot. Characters begin the game in one of four starting classes - mage, rogue, fighter, or cleric. After reaching the fifth level, characters choose a guild to join to help them advance in their chosen career. As the characters gain levels, many guilds offer specialization options such as additional spell lists or advanced combat skills. These specialization options are available only to characters that have advanced to a certain point within a guild.

In addition, Mythic released information on some of the guilds that will be found in the game. The guilds of the realm of Albion include: The Church of Albion, a religious guild that lets both fighters and clerics join; The Brotherhood, another religious guild that focuses on healing and is only open to clerics; The Guild of Shadows, a guild open to rogues, fighters, and mages concerned with learning the most effective ways of killing enemies; The Circle of Wizardry, a guild founded by Merlin that is open only to mages; The Society of Performers, a minstrel guild open to rogues interested in learning music and storytelling skills; The Defenders of Albion, a group of professional soldiers open to rogues and fighters; The Craftsman's Guild, a guild open to fighters and mages who want to learn the skill of enhancing and maintaining weapons and armor and the skill of constructing of siege weapons; and The Knights of the Round Table, the famous guild of fighters started by King Arthur.
