DC Reportedly Pauses Flash Actor Ezra Miller's Projects Following Arrest

Rolling Stone reports that Miller's involvement with the DCEU is currently being reconsidered.

Multiple Ezra Miller projects--and the actor's future with Warner Bros. and DC--are reportedly in jeopardy following a number of recent incidents, including the star's arrest for disorderly conduct and harassment. According to Rolling Stone, the companies' executives held an emergency meeting on March 30.

On March 29, Miller reportedly had a temporary restraining order placed against them by a couple that claimed they stormed into their bedroom and threatened them. Miller also allegedly engaged in other illicit activities, and is accused of stealing a passport and a wallet that included a social security card, driver’s license, and bank cards. None of these seem to be isolated incidents, as Page Six is also reporting that Miller "was the subject of 10 police calls in less than a month."

As of this writing, Miller is set to appear as the titular character in The Flash, which is slated for release in 2023. But as Rolling Stone reports, both Warner Bros. and DC are reportedly pausing any future projects involving the actor--which also includes further possible appearances in the DC Cinematic Universe.

These recent developments also cast an unfortunate shadow over The Flash. The film was, among many other reasons, drawing lots of attention for it excitingly featuring the return of Michael Keaton as Batman. The Flash is expected to hit theaters on June 23, 2023.

Miller will next be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which is due to hit theaters on April 15.

Not for nothing, but I think its a matter of time before the studio says screw it, and just shelves the movie altogether. The movie gets pushed back a whole year and now with Miller's antics, this has to be a PR nightmare for them.

@DETfaninATL: This is not about "forgive and forget"; this is strictly a business decision--period, full stop. When the star of your next potential movie franchise is getting into all sorts of legal trouble, the people who plan on spending a couple hundred million to make those movies tend to second guess if it's a good idea to do so. They're not gonna forgive and move on with that kind of money involved.

@hallenbeck77: Peoples feelings on scientific facts don't change reality. The reality is you are either born male or female. That is a scientific fact. If you refuse to acknowledge that you are just living a fantasy. And that is ok for one to do but we don't have to acknowledge or respect that fantasy especially when it can cause confusion for those based in reality.

@deth420: I didn't forget them. Hermaphrodites are hermaphrodites, which this actor isn't one of them. That would be acceptable to call them whatever they preferred in that case. That being said the odds of anyone being a hermaphrodites isn't very likely.. you have more chances of winning the lotto 3 times and being struck by lightning twice than being one.

@masscrack: people tend to mistake "science" for "biology". Well, biology scholars know there are not only two sexes, as there are quite a few possible variations between chromosomes X and Y. But biology itself would never claim that sex and gender are the same thing, because gender is sociological, not biological.

And sociology (which is a science) claims that gender is a social construct, something that humans have and animals don't because we live in a complex society built on advanced rationality. Sex, by the way, is completely irrelevant to society, because it is invisible. You don't walk around with your mapped genome to prove to people you have perfectly defined XY or XX chromosomes. Gender, on the other hand, is visible, and used to mark your place in society.

And this social construct hasn't been divided only in two things for millenia, there are hundreds of different cultures with hundreds of different accepted and adopted identities. Many of those cultures were erased by our modern, somewhat pasteurized "western culture". Still, in modern western society, we consider gender studies "science". And gender studies have identified multiple possible explanations for transsexuality, including genetics.

It isn't science that limits gender, it's culture and religion. You are entitled to follow your cultural upbringing (as the moderator said, as long as you don't offend anyone), but don't claim your opinion is based on science, because science disagrees.

@MigGui: lol biology is a branch of science. A male is of or denoting the sex that produces small, typically motile gametes, especially spermatozoa, with which a female may be fertilized or inseminated to produce offspring. Your doctors/words cannot change that fact and this has nothing to do with culture or religion.

@masscrack: no amount of bibliography could convince you how relevant and important social sciences are to understand human nature? Any study dismissing the social part of the human to study human is bound to fail. You are narrowing sciences at your convenience, using a close minded comprension skill to sustain your opinion as correct while it is, indeed, an opinion. This is not better than cheap science.

@masscrack: Then we have Quantum Mechanics where reality is as feeble and absurd that any observer can alter it, we even have the Von neumann / Wigner interpretation where consciousness can cause collapse, thats like people feelings.

Stuff only exist because their room and the whole universe acknowledges it. As soon as there isn't a room and you are in a vacuum you just explode and fade out. And you can't never know too much about a system, without causing a black hole. its fun stuff

Many of these interpretations were engineered to annoy these inflexible reductionist philosophers of the time, some philosophers even published articles stating that being unable to know everything due to this pesky uncertainty principle made it not worth to keep living. And you no longer heard about reductionist philosophers anymore, what a coincidence.

I say all that because something possessed you into arguing about reality, much like a philosopher would, Rather than to find a middle ground, engineer a solution or try to build a community, but just to argue for the sake of arguing.that road brings you nowhere.

@rios_0th: I understand this but again there is a basis for reality that has been established to help us navigate the world properly. Imagine someone breaks into your home and steals your things. An officer ask questions. You tell him "they/them broke in my home!". He would then ask "how many were there?". He ask were they male or female, you say "neither". He ask "were they black or white" and you say "they identify as a cat". Do you see how things start breaking down here? reality starts breaking down and things become confusing. It helps neither the officer or yourself when you base things in fantasy.

@masscrack: Don't even bother with them, when it comes to their fantasy everyone should respect it else you are a bigot or homophobe, but when practicing Islam or Christianity that person gets called out by these same people, saying they believe in a fantasy. The irony is that they, as you stated, also believe in a fantasy with all their pronounce, etc. Whoever invented the word Hypocrisy is a hero.

@masscrack: Bias are good for speed, being able to take decisions quickly is real handy at times, however in doing so we also take an accuracy hit as our assumptions make the universes seem too idealistic and deterministic, Sub-real.

But as we grew and learn more stuff we just dump them for more complex mathematics and our boolean logic becomes Fuzzy. Science and Reality itself are evolving just like that as such we can't let all our knowledge to become inflexible. This is especially a problem for people with psychological disorder, unfortunately

Ironically a Cat Bulglar is an slang for a thief that can enter a house unnoticed, surely an experienced officer would understand it.

@masscrack: There are animal species that literally change their gender for different reasons, usually mating. It’s not like it’s a concept that is unheard of in nature, we just (as we have with literally everything else in life) have sped up the process so its not something we have to evolve with but can instead do in our own lifetime with science. And Jesus is literally a genderless, non-human, non-physical entity who identified as a human male, so that argument doesn’t make much sense either for those that go there. We as humans(who don’t at all fully understand the human brain, so kudos to for knowing exactly how they work) can travel the stars and believe in figures who were conceived immaculately….but the idea of being born in a body that doesn’t match what your brain thinks of itself as…is completely impossible…cool beans, logic there tracks. Everyone can have their opinions, but we also have to compare them to other things we deal with in life and see how much sense they make when put up against each other. You can’t say don’t tell me what to call them and then tell others what to call them.

@dts15: Lifes unfair we get it. Some males want to be females, and females want to be males. I mean I want to be a transformer but that doesn't change the reality that I was born a human male. At this current time with our given technology, what defines males and females cannot be changed. A female cannot get someone pregnant and a male cannot get pregnant. A male cannot have working ovaries and a female cannot have working testicles. These are facts that cannot be changed at the current time.

Even if you identify as a father or a male and you get pregnant and have a child, you are still a mother. Being a male or female is not an opinion.. its based on facts and biology. People should accept who they are or at least not expect everyone else to conform to their fantasies and get upset when people call them by their proper gender. Again, I don't care what anyone does in the personal life, but when I'm reading a professional article the proper terminology should be used or else you will confuse your readers.

@masscrack: you see the irony in what you are saying here though? You don’t care what they do in their personal life and you don’t want them to get upset when people call them by what they were born as……but here you are getting upset when what you consider is the improper term being is used in reference to them In an article. So it’s okay if you get upset about an article choosing to write about them how the writer wants to, but not when the people being referenced get upset when the same thing happens?? “ I'm gonna use the proper terminology and expect that when reading professional articles online.”….that’s sounds suspiciously like the people you seem to be talking about lol. Have your opinion, but just like them the entire rest of the world isn’t obligated to go by it my man.

@masscrack: The irony is saying not everyone is obligated to conform to how they think while simultaneously saying everyone needs to conform to how you think. The rock also isn’t named the rock my dude, do you get upset when publications don’t call him Dwayne Johnson, that’s his real name, that’s a fact we can prove. Him calling himself something else doesnt change that, we just choose to accept it. Just like you choose not to acknowledge how people want to be referred, so can others in the FREE PRESS choose to do so. It’s hypocrisy, based completely on how you feel about what others should do. Again, it’s not about your opinion or science, it’s about telling someone what they need to do with words they write or say when everyone can decide personally how to go about it. You don’t like it done to you, don’t do it to others lol, that seems simple.

@dts15: They are confusing their readers (especially young ones) to conform to the ideals/virtue signal to the 1%.. A journalist should also be an educator and present the facts at all cost even if it makes someone feel uncomfortable. This isn't about my opinion because this isn't an opinion, I don't get to make up what the correct terminology is, it is already presented and therefore should be used appropriately. I hold journalist to higher standard than to cater to the fantasies of people that aren't even close to a majority of their viewer base. I'm sure the shoe would be on the other foot if they had called him a he in the article, so think before you call other people hypocrites.

@masscrack: No I wouldn’t care at all 😂, because I can accept that people will differ or even make mistakes, which is why I’m not a hypocrite. If someone feels strongly enough for one side that they feel the right to tell others how to go about it, I will gladly use logic to explain why that doesn’t make sense. They have the right to refer to themselves however they want, writers have right to go with that or not. We as readers have the right to disagree with either choice and also have the choice whether to internalize it. None of us have the right to tell the other what they have to do lol. That’s again, super simple, and I’ve been even been using they how you would, not just talking about this one person btw.

@dts15: Fair enough, I was generally confused at first if the writer was talking about multiple people or not. It's not that I don't like people who identify as other genders, I think most people would prefer the correct terminology to be used instead of catering to a vocal minority. It's not the end of the world though, I will move on. Thanks for the discussion.

@masscrack: I can feel it man, I’m not gonna sit here and say I don’t get confused and have questions at times. And just again, we can’t speak for “most people”, just ourselves as individuals. When we start assuming we speak for the majority, even if that’s true, is when we really have problems. Even with the idea of science, you’re correct physically, but the human brain is so complicated there’s no way to say there’s concrete science in that aspect. But anyway, pronouns are one of those things that, no matter how you feel about it, to me it seems the more we talk about it in terms of how others should act the bigger the issue will be. Of course treat everyone the same, but we as a collective shouldn’t be so caught up on pronouns as to say whether someone can accept to use what’s asked or not. That at the least is a third party just trying to be respectful whether for personal or professional reasons, both of which are valid. Good discussion though, thank you too.
