DC Universe's Stargirl Won't Be A DC Universe Exclusive

There hasn't been much news about the DC Universe original show Stargirl since its initial announcement over a year ago and subsequent poster debut--but rest assured, it's still well on its way. Stargirl will become the first DC Universe original to also air on linear TV with a timeslot on The CW, Deadline reports.

In addition to airing on The CW, Stargirl will also be available on The CW's streaming platforms, making it easily the most accessible DC Universe show yet. Each episode will first drop on the DC Universe service, and then, the following day, it will be picked up and broadcast in primetime, followed by broadcast on The CW's own digital services.

Bizarrely, this will make Stargirl the third DC Universe show to get a completely unique broadcast model. Titans will remain a DC Universe exclusive for its upcoming third season while its sister show, Doom Patrol, will make the jump to the upcoming Warner Bros-owned HBO Max service for Season 2. It's still unclear what this splintered approach will mean for the shared universe aspects of the shows, or whether or not Stargirl's new CW home will pave the way for her eventual Arrowverse debut.

Stargirl premieres on the DC Universe in 2020.
