DC's Batwoman Show Casts Iconic Villain Victor Zsasz
The CW's Batwoman Season 2 is now in production and will premiere in 2021.
The second season of The CW's Batwoman is now in production ahead of a release next year. Following this week's first look at new star Javicia Leslie in costume, it has been announced that the psychopathic villain Victor Zsasz has been cast.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Zsasz will be played by Alex Morf in Batwoman Season 2. Morf is best known to fans for appearing in the DC show Gotham as the gang leader Sykes, as well as roles in Mindhunter, Daredevil, and Mr. Robot. Zsasz is described by The CW as "a charismatic, skilled hitman with high, unpredictable energy. He proudly carves tally marks onto his skin for every victim he kills."
Zsasz has been portrayed by a variety of other actors over the years. Most recently, Chris Messina played him in the movie Birds of Prey, while Barry star Anthony Carrigan and Tim Booth played the character in Gotham and the movie Batman Begins respectively.
Leslie will be playing a new Batwoman in the second season. Ruby Rose played Kate Cain in the Season 1, but in May she revealed that she was stepping down from the role. Leslie will play a character named Ryan Wilder, and while the image released this week was of the familiar costume Rose wore, Leslie has confirmed she will put "her own spin on the Batsuit."
Batwoman Season 2 doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it's expected sometime in 2021. In related news, it was recently announced that the upcoming sixth season of The CW's Supergirl will be the final one. Season 6 will include 20 episodes and will also premiere at some point in 2021.
