DC's Superman Prequel Show Krypton Gets Dazzling First Trailer

"The blood of House El will always bind us together."

While the future slate for DC's movies remains up-in-the-air, its TV roster continues to thrive. The studio's latest show is Krypton, which as the title suggests takes a look at life on Superman's home planet before its destruction. A first teaser has been released--watch it at moviepilot.com.

No Caption Provided

Krypton is executively produced by David Goyer, who has plenty of experience with DC's superheroes. He co-wrote both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel, as well as Christopher Nolan's Batman movies and the Constantine TV show.

The synopsis reads: "Syfy's Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet, will follow Superman's grandfather--whose House of El was ostracized and shamed--as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos."

The show stars newcomer Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, the grandfather of Superman. It also features Georgina Campbell (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword), Ian McElhinney (Star Wars: Rogue One), and Ann Ogbomo (World War Z).

Goyer first spoke about Krypton in 2015, where he described his plans for the show. "In terms of production value, you have to pick your moments," he told Collider. "Should we make the show, there will definitely be some big moments. It won't be wall to wall visual effects every single moment, and we'll also be digging into the characters and the culture a lot more."

Krypton doesn't currently have a confirmed premiere date, but it is expected later in 2017.

I've thought all of DC's live action movies and shows after Dark Knight have been terrible so I won't care about this unless I hear some high praise. Then again I think all their shows are garbage and they get plenty of good reviews so even then I probably won't give it a chance. I don't know what I need to hear to get interested but I'm a big fan of their comics especially Superman right now so I'm sure there's something.

Syfy has really upped their standards of tv shows. They went from the occasional hit to almost everything being good.

That said I have hope for this, there's not much they can do wrong storywise since the majority of people would only know is that krypton is destroyed.

Comic fans would expect brainiac, kandor and rao..and..that's about it. I'm not a superfan so I may have missed a few things.

Wasn't impressed with Constantine at all. It was slow and boring. I hope this isn't like that

@louixiii: @josekuervo:

except SYFY is owned by NBC.......

also the Constantine character was pretty cool but the show was boring cus it had little to do with the comics and tried to be like Supernatural and it failed.....his appearance on Arrow season 4 was awesome and was a good shot in the arm but he should have just joined up with Legends Of Tomorrow.....that would have given the character a life.....and think about it someone who could counter some of the mystical stuff who was an expert at it??? frack yeah, maybe then Carter would have lived longer lol [Carter = hawkman]

@darthrevenx: so what if NBC owns Syfy they are still two separate entities.. dumbest counter argument ever... thats like saying Battle Star Galactica sucks because NBC owns Syfy.. lulz..... and He would not fit in Legends dude... lmao

@louixiii: I am aware...so what? He also wrote the Batman/Nolan Trilogy.. your point?
The real problems is things the network wouldn't let them do.. the no smoking.. no politics, ignoring his bisexuality, not supernatural enough. There are tons of reasons the show failed..but writing was not really it.

Constantine had many writers

Daniel Cerone

@josekuervo: As well as BvS which was a dud and MoS which was a hit or miss on top of Constantine bombing so NOW do you see my point? He doesn't have the best track record and neither does SyFy.

@josekuervo: Since when did money equate to quality? From a writers perspective, this movie was a dud. Stating that money equates to quality goes to show who's the idiot (cough cough)...kid here lol

Yeah this'll probably end up getting cancelled just like Constantine, sure I'll watch this but I ain't hyped for it like I was with the rest of the DC shows, I just hope I enjoy it just as much as the others. A "Superman Prequel" juat doesn't sound all that enticing, Kara almost explains life on Krypton well enough in almost everything she's been in...

@sephirothswing: "A "Superman Prequel" juat doesn't sound all that enticing," right because Smallville didn't last 10 years. Not sure why people keep mentioning Constantine.. that was on NBC and this is SyFy who has great track with television shows.

@josekuervo: yes because Clark Kent isn't Superman? That whole show is based on Clark becoming Superman, it has powers and it had a lot of them. Krypton is pre-power era, people keep mentioning Constantine because the guy writing this was a key part of Constantine. Loved Constantine and was gutted it got cancelled, but like I said I don't have any hype for this show like I did the others.

@sephirothswing: I know what Smallville was about I watched it live and own the series kid.... it was still a prequel and people like you said at the time that it was not needed... that he needed to be superman.. blah blah blah.. negative nellys like you always have some negative sh to whine about.

@josekuervo: a superman Prequel based on Earth. Yes that we're happy with, but a show ON KRYPTON? Its really not needed, you must've missed the part where I didn't say anything bad about Smallville, I actually really enjoyed and thought the casting was perfect especially with Tom Welling. Assumations will bring you down, buddy. I also love the Supergirl show which hasn't been around too long. She is constantly explaining what life on Krypton was like... Stop being such a fanboy and know where there's a decent story, there isn't one on Krypton without powers, it'd just be another action wannabe prequel show...

visually it looks okay...good.......but we don't need a prequel making Jor El out to be something he never was.....

we especially don't need this when we have the Supergirl show.......

@Jdzspace: if its like Gotham then that's great... Gotham has been solid so far and the Gotham's 1st season had the highest ratings and highest viewership than all Super heroes shows out there at that time (Arrow, Flash, AOS) and season two had as good numbers as the 1st one.. and season 3 has been better story wise .. so... yeah.. that's great if this is Gotham Superman editions... that's actually a good thing, at least 3 seasons for sure. LMAO

This sounds not that great because:

1. Nobody has powers on Krypton, Superman only has powers because of the Earth's sun or atmosphere or something like that.

2. Krypton is still screwed no matter what grandpa superman does.

@csward: plenty of shows thrive without super powers... who cares about that. I am very interested in this story about Krypton. Everyone knows the death star blows up yet people still went to see the prequels and rogue one.

I dont get it.

They dont have super powers on Krypton.

Only chance this has to be interesting is if the do a whole season about Zod trying to get everyone to kneel before him. See, he sells knee pads, and wants everyone to try them out to prove how effective they are. Of course no one will due to a genetic defect that leaves many kryptonians with only one working knee joint. Zod takes it personally, anyway.

You'd think he would have seen that coming.

@josekuervo: I watched both MCU movies and DCEU movies and if you honestly think the DCEU have good plot then you're honestly quite blind. No offence.

As I am a huge fan of Batman and Superman but seeing a movie studio then butcher them in front of me is not pleasant. Plus the DCEU only has 3 movies out right now and are rushing it compared to the MCU which took its time and has like 14 movies out right now, 1 TV show and 4 netflix shows in the same universe with generally consistently good movies and shows. You cannot even compare the both of them. MCU is better. Simple as that.

Also you're right about shows still being good without super powers but the DCEU gives me no hope of Krypton succeeding.

@Soulwarfare42I love Marvel movies but those movies are more for kids like you... its pretty obvious by your comments.... DCEU movies are for more mature audiences. HAHA look at you with the "rushing" argument... guys like ayou are so sad, always repeating what they see other write.. no original thought whatsoever. MCU took his time he says... DCEU has the exact same pace kid. 1 movie a year or so a year... LMAO..... rushing he says hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Negative Nellys like you can't be happy.. if DC did things exactly liek Marvel then you would be here complaining how they are copying marvel....gotta love guys like you that always have some kind of hard on for a company that don;t care about them. Like the apple v android people... MCU is better he says..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

1 tv show in the same Universe? hahahahahah Marvel already admitted AOS is not tied in to the whole thing... hilarious. And that show has been garbage for the most part. And DD was good and JJ but Cage and IF kinda sucked. you want to talk about rushed... being rushed is what they did with Iron Fist.. were the actor was learning the fight choreography 15 minutes before shooting every scene.. too funny.

@josekuervo: DCEU is for mature audiences? You sure? okay Martha. Okay Granny's Peach Tea. Btw you sound very retarded. Are you okay?

Also none of your points make the MCU sound bad at all. I don't know how you think the DCEU is better with only 3 movies that are poorly received compared to the MCU with 14 movies and most of them are generally well receive but okay go believe your silly opinion if you want.
