Dead Rising web series being developed by Mortal Kombat: Legacy creator
Producer Tim Carter said he's finalizing a deal for a Dead Rising series and working on a Mighty No. 9 movie.
Producer of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy live-action web series Tim Carter said that he's optioned the rights for Dead Rising from Capcom, and is just waiting to finalize a deal with a "very large studio in Los Angels."
If the deal goes through, Carter's Contradiction Films will produce a live-action web series based on Capcom's zombie game, he told EP Live. He explained that the Dead Rising series will be 90 minutes long all together, and that it will have a linear story, unlike the first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
Carter also said that he's working on a live-action adaptation of Mighty No. 9. Speaking with Polygon, Mega Man and Mighty No. 9 creator Keiji Inafune later clarified that this is not a done deal yet, and that he is just in talks with Contradiction Films.
This is not the first time Capcom has produced live-action content based on the Dead Rising games. In 2010, it made a short live-action film called Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun, which was later released episodically on Xbox Live.
We recently reported that Dead Rising 3 has shipped 1 million copies.
