Deadpool 2's IMAX Posters Are Hilarious And Bizarre
And the winners are...
The publicity campaign for the upcoming Deadpool 2 has become a slightly more traditional one over the past few weeks, with proper trailers and clips replacing the bizarre earlier promos. Nevertheless, the movie's posters have maintained a distinctly irreverent tone, and the hilarious new series of IMAX posters is no exception.
They are the results of a competition run by Fox and IMAX for Deadpool-loving members of the online art community DeviantArt. First place went to Andy Fairhurst, whose poster featuring Deadpool hitching a ride becomes the movie's official IMAX poster and will be seen in theaters across the US. Second place, which will become a mini-poster for fans, was an explosive effort by John Gallagher, while Patrick Brown's hilarious pink-horse-riding design will be made into a collectible ticket at Regal Cinemas. Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18. It stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino, plus TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Julian Dennison. It's directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde).
The final trailer for Deadpool 2 was released last month, and it revealed the identity of some of the other members of X-Force, the superhero team Deadpool puts together to fight Cable. We already knew about Domino, and the video confirmed that Terry Crews is indeed playing Beldam. Beyond that, there was Shatterstar (played by Iron Fist's Lewis Tan), and er, Peter, a normal guy who replied to Deadpool's ad.
In related news, Reynolds recently revealed that he wasn't sure if there would be a Deadpool 3. An X-Force movie has been in development for some time, and the actor explained that he thought that would be the next film to feature the Merc with a Mouth. "It’s an odd thing to say but I don't think there will be a Deadpool 3," he told Starnews Korea, via Slashfilm. "I think going forward it would be an X-Force movie, which would be his team, so to speak."
