Deep Rock Galactic Spin-Off Sells Half A Million Copies In Its First Week
The auto-shooter spin-off inspired by Vampire Survivors is doing well for itself.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor sold more than 500,000 copies in its first week on sale, and now developer Funday Games is outlining its plans for the weeks and months ahead.
The auto-shooter takes aspects fans of the co-op FPS Deep Rock Galactic have come to love, like dwarves, mining, and killing truck loads of alien bugs, and combines it with the rewarding auto-shooting and roguelite elements of Vampire Survivors. That appears to be a winning combination, with developer Funday Games saying the game's early access launch exceeded the studio's "wildest imagination" in a recent post on Steam.
"We are humbled, grateful, and very, very busy working on the game," Funday Games said.
As for what's next, Funday already had a roadmap ready at launch outlining new features it hopes to bring to the game in the near future. Among the additions players can expect in the coming weeks and months is a new biome, biome mutators for added challenge, the addition of new Overclocks and Artifacts to enable "more fun synergies and builds," and a revamp of the mining robot Bosco to make it an "integral part of the game" with its own upgrades.

Funday notes that the game's first content update is already well in the works, but that the items at the top of the roadmap are still "very much" subject to change. After the major features outlined above, Funday is looking to add new mission types, bosses, daily missions, and more to Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, though no timeline for when those items will arrive has been given. Players can submit suggestions for new features and general feedback via the game's official Discord server. The team is additionally working on hotfixes to address various in-game issues.
If Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor isn't providing enough space dwarf action, yet another spin-off, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, is in the works. Rogue Core is being handled by original Deep Rock Galactic developer Ghost Ship Games. It will put a roguelite twist on Deep Rock Galactic's tried-and-true formula, with players starting from scratch for each procedurally generated mission and needing to collect resources and upgrades to empower the whole team.
