The cracker group named DERP has taken credit for taking EA's Origin service offline overnight by disabling its login servers, preventing players from accessing the digital distribution service and some of its games, such as Battlefield 4.
On its Twitter account, DERP posted that "we've directed the Gaben Laser Beamâ„¢ @ the EA login servers. Origin #offline."
While EA has not confirmed the claims, it did post on Twitter to say "we're working to resolve connectivity/login issues affecting various platforms/games. Thank you for your patience. Updates when available."
Three hours after its original post, EA's customer services said Origin's login servers had returned to normal service.
Last week DERP also took credit for disabling the League of Legends and Battle.net servers in an attempt to disrupt the activities of popular streamer Phantoml0rd.
