Destiny 2: Beyond Light Launch Trailer Paints The Solar System Black
No colors anymore, they're all turning black.
Ahead of its launch on November 10, developer Bungie has dropped a new launch trailer for its latest Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light. It's a briefer look at the next chapter in Destiny 2 than the lengthy ViDoc from this week, but there's still plenty to unpack here.
The Darkness has finally arrived in our solar system, a new Fallen house has risen to challenge the Guardians, and the lure of new powers from the age-old enemy of The Traveler has resulted in humanity's defenders questioning where their allegiances truly lie.
All that, and a creepy orchestral remix of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" can be heard in the background.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light will feature a lot more content than just what was seen in the launch trailer. Back on Earth, you'll be able to revisit the Cosmodrome from the first Destiny, but this patrol zone has become infested with a more sinister force. A new corruption has begun bending Fallen, Cabal, and Hive to the will of Xivu Arath, the Hive god of war, and younger sister to Savathun the Witch Queen, while a familiar face from the past, former Awoken prince Uldren Sov, is also back to aid Guardians in their quest.
Events like this will be part of the Season of the Hunt, the seasonal period in which players take part in various other challenges, earn new gear, take part in a new Strike, and more. Beyond Light's big draw is the introduction of Stasis subclasses (Titan Behemoth, Hunter Revenant, and Warlock Shadebinder), which allow for the battlefield to be turned to your advantage with powers that can freeze and shatter enemies.
You can check out our Destiny 2 hub and preorder page for more information on the expansion, which will arrive shortly after Destiny 2 slims down in size and locks some of its legacy content away in the Destiny Vault. Destiny 2 will be playable through backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with next-gen upgrades arriving in December.
