Destiny 2 PC Beta Date, Requirements And Recommended Specs Revealed

Here are the specs for the Destiny 2 beta.

Bungie finally announced when PC players will be able to play the Destiny 2 beta in its Weekly Update recently. In addition, the studio also shared what kind of PC you'll need to run the game.

Bungie recommends that you have a pretty beefy machine to run the game, which isn't surprising considering Destiny 2's graphical and processing complexity. For processors, Bungie recommends that you have at least an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X. For GPUs, meanwhile, the studio suggests an Nvidia GTX 970 or an AMD Radeon R9 390. 8 GB of RAM is recommended, too.

Interestingly, Bungie also gives a few suggestions in case you're looking to upgrade your PC to better run the beta. The studio suggests upgrading to an Intel Core i5-7400 CPU and an Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB GPU.

Finally, if you want to go all out and run Destiny 2 like Bungie does at events, the studio shared the specs for its "Event Machine." To build such a rig, you'll need the high-powered Nvidia GTX 1080Ti 11GB GPU and Intel i7-7700k processor.

You can see the full list of specs below; Bungie warns that these specs could change by the time the game launches in full. The beta begins for people who have pre-ordered the game on August 28, while it opens to the public on August 29. It ends on August 31. Destiny 2 officially launches on PC on October 24.

I think my rig would do fine

Gtx 1080 16 gigs ram i7 4790 4.4ghz over clock

I doubt I'll be getting it though

Lack of story in the first with the ridiculous dlc model I had enough and sold my copy

I do hope fans enjoy though

@JEF8484: It still depends on the framerate he is looking for. We don't know for sure that with this GPU at 1080p medium there are no drops below 30 fps. So he might have to drop a bunch of things to low to have no drops below 30 fps.

Let's wait until the benchmarks arrive before jumping to conclusions.

1080Ti with 32GB DDR4 and an i7-6700k. My fiancee's rig is a 1070 with 16GB DD4 and an i7-7700k.

I think we'll be fine.

@JEF8484: Yeah, haha. I currently am still running a 1080p monitor, but about to upgrade. Can't decide whether I want 1440p and higher framerates or 4k 60Hz. I'll probably go for the 1440p.

She already has a 1440p G-Sync monitor, so she should be fine.

@Ryan_Som: Nice, yea I have a 4k-60hz TV for gaming. Not too bad cause it has game mode and I dont do much competitive play. I'll prob get a G-sync in a few years when I upgrade from the 1080ti.

What? So, it is open to everyone on the 29th? I think you guys need to really re-read what you type. It's the 28th if you did a pre-order, 29th if you didn't.

@SirNormanislost: it is, but, you cant complain if ALL games dont run on max with a 1060, you CAN complain if they dont run on a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 though.

I got a 4150 AMD, will that just not work now? I can easily play Battlefield no problems and the upcoming Cod WW2, I jsut don't see how this game is going to be any more tough to handle unless they poorly optimize it. I mean its running on a PS4, and I know my CPU is beyond better, should I be worried?

EDIT: OMG, I am so dumb, I read it right but got confused; I have an 8150 lol. I guess I will definitely be fine. Sorry for the confusion!

@sellingthings: OK so I wasn't going crazy then right? I thought I saw it say min was 970, and I was like "really?" The CPU min I misread though, unless it was also wrong. I'm not running it on 1080 anyway.

@sellingthings: I assume a more complete list will be revealed closer to the beta. But I'm not worried about those anyway because I am most likely well over the RAM and other requirements. I just hope the game is optimized great, that can make or break a game regardless of specs.

Those minimum specs should make for a larger player base.

@Mogan: But will that help ? If it's a large player base with minimum requirements (crappy computers) you will wait 5 mins before joining an activity... because yeah.... slow PCs. Not to talk about their low FPS performance... (it's funny to see that they're not mentioning what *RESOLUTION* is intended for the minimum specs)

Either way, will be fun to see :D They are not doing this for player favors or accessibility ... they are doing it for the money. And I think the overall community will have to suffer from it.

Starting to remember why I'm a console gamer. I sorta understand the CPUs but not the video cards. I have an i7 second gen I think, but apparently a sucky GPU because I can barely run StarCraft 2 on it... Laptop, so no, I can't upgrade it besides HDD and RAM.

@Addict187: Who said I hated PC games? I said I remember why I'm a console gamer.. because a lot of those specs and cards are like a foreign language to me. And I didn't buy my laptop to game on, so it wasn't a mistake. But I did think it's run older games like StarCraft 2 better than it does. And since when is an i7 a bad processor? See, this is what confuses me.

@joshrmeyer: In the future you could consider buying a desktop + a cheap chromebook and then just remote connect to your desktop on occasion for anything not supported on the chromebook.

@bigtunacan: I probably will. I didn't have a need for both at the time so I went with the laptop, which I definitely got my money's worth. A desktop would only be used for gaming... Which I'm fine with.(no viruses, etc)
