Destiny 2 PC Release Date Isn't Set; Here Are The Default Keyboard And Mouse Controls

Destiny 2 on PC may launch later than on PS4 and Xbox One.

Unlike the PS4 and Xbox One versions, which were dated back in March, the PC version does not yet have a release date. That's according to director Luke Smith, who told PC Gamer, "We're not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we're totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can."

As we learned today, Destiny 2 on PC will run through Blizzard's Battle.net platform. Smith noted that Bungie wants to make sure it gets everything right for Destiny's PC debut. "Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven so it's a delicious piece of bread when it comes out," he explained.

Now Playing: GS News Update: Destiny 2 PC Release Date Isn't Set Yet

Smith said that we might get some further clue as to when the PC version will launch in the "coming weeks," but there's no telling if we'll get an exact date then or not.

Until now, it had been assumed to this point that the PC version would launch at the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One versions, so this news will come as a disappointment to fans. That said, some of the other PC details shared today were encouraging, like the fact that it offers support for 4K and uncapped framerates. In an interview with GameSpot, project lead Mark Noseworthy also detailed some of the things Bungie is doing to "give it the love and attention it deserves to be a great experience."

"We're PC fans ourselves, and we know PC players want the bells and whistles and they want all the sliders, they want all the things that are going to let them customize their experience," he said. "We have a really robust options screen with tons of graphics options, and we're going to support changing FOV, multiple aspect ratio resolutions--of course 16:9, 16:10, but even things like 21:9 are going to be supported.

"Remapping the mouse and keyboard is super important to players, so we're supporting that. If people want to play on PC with a controller, because that's how they grew up playing games and that's how they want to play, so we're going to support controllers as well, and hot plug-and-play between it and mouse and keyboard."

As for the default keyboard-and-mouse controls, you can see that layout in the image above.

Destiny 2 launches for consoles on September 8, with a beta to come before that. In light of this news regarding the PC version's release date, we don't know when a beta will arrive for that version. When contacted for comment, Activision declined to comment on the matter, only telling us, "Destiny 2 is shipping on September 8th, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. We will have details later about the PC ship date on Blizzard Entertainment's Battle.net."

Looks like us console players will be beta testing all the exploits so that the PC players get a shinier version lmao. If the PC version launches any later than March 2018, that will be awful.

Not going to wait a fucking year after console players get it. I just won't buy it. I still might not, I have no interest in using battlenet. Fucking Activision clueless morons when it comes to PC.

@se7en1989: There is absolutely nothing wrong with battle.net. Infact I would even say its better than Steam, I only like steam because it has a huge catalog of games to buy. It doesn't matter where what a game uses to launch, anyone I want to play with I just skype or vent or discord to talk to.

As a long time gamer and fan of all sorts of games, I am ... disappointed ... in this whole PC version for "it will be out later".

When I say long time gamer I mean since the C=64 and Apple][ and text based Adventure, and Castle Wolfenstein 2D (yes I said 2D)

It has been 3 years since Destiny came out? I thought it looked good and would look better on my EXPENSIVE PC game build I keep with SLI configs. I buy PC because I can support more than just one generation of games but multiples since I have hundreds of games. It also does not hurt when I have to deal major damage coding for my job/hobby either.

Every time I see delay and like this it also make me behind the story/feature/events/etc curve forevermore. You also see a loss of people playing the original since it is no longer the 'cool toy to have'

Am I bashing on Blizzard? Nope. One of my favorite games was Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2. It was also one of my dads favorite game too. It is however the continued lackluster support for non-console type platforms that is disenfranchising your long time supporters.

@wyld-one: blah blah blah! Dude seriously STFU! I have a expensive PC, oh listen to me. Developers need extra time to do bug testing because every Pc is different from each other in specs. Would you be happy if they gave you a buggy game and very few tweaking features?

No self respecting PC gamer will buy a sequel to a game deliberately withheld from PC.

@ECH71: It looks like an expansion to the first game on top of that. Zero innovation. Bungie should've stayed as far away as possible from Activision.

Pretty sure Blizzard saw this and forced Bungie to make a better pc version of the game. Blizzard do not want to tarnish their brand.

@sellingthings: Don't be a dlck about it; why do you want to stop other people's enjoyment because you don't like it. Personally I don't give a shit about the game, so I'll just ignore it and carry on playing what I like and leave other people to what they like.
