Destiny Gets Microtransactions

Not glad to hear this. Can't they just be happy that the game is selling well and that they got away with a $40 expansion?

I played destiny when it first came out then I realized that a rip off it was and I turned my back on it. these types of games are destroying the industry with their greed giving you half of a game for full price then asking you to spend on dlc, microtransactions they just keep sucking from the players with the same game series coming out every year, greedy capitalism at its finest.

Because $60 games with $35 season passes and a $40 expansion (that has an alleged budget of $500,000,000) definitely needs micro-payments to keep the game up and running................ said the PR rep that hopes people are stupid enough to believe it.

Want to charge money for emotes (making them free unlockables would give your player-base something to work towards, but hey, more money is more money), fine (not fine, but whatever), but don't pretend it's for any reason other than making just a little more than all the money in the world.

Bought Activision Blizz stock a couple years back. It's been a profitable investment.

These would have definitely been introduced way earlier if their game was a complete disaster at the beginning. Now that they think The Taken King is making people happy they finally say "Well, **** it. We need to suck more money from the people that actually helped us not be completely ruined as a company".

Destiny is a joke and always will be. I will never touch this boring, grind of a game. Save your money for the even more expensive Destiny 2. It will be full priced, chalk full of premium DLC, and don't forget to sprinkle on the micro transaction to boot.

The games industry has gone completely fucking mad. Thank god I enjoyed it in its prime when these companies did fan service and quality. Now I' too busy to be burnt by this shit.

I've enjoyed destiny a lot so far, but hearing this makes me not want to play anymore. I don't trust this. Microtransactions are for mobile games, and I didn't spent $500 on a gaming console to play games with microtransactions. I bought the dark below, house of wolves, and the taken king, but for some reason hearing this makes the game uninteresting to me. I had a destiny addiction and Bungie and Activision just cured it.

'Another day, another destiny' emote. Idea for a new one, Activision? You know, when my character can slump down on its knees and hands, shaking its head slowly in agonizing despair and confussion as everything seems such a deja vu. It knows it has walked these halls hundreds of times already, seen it hundreds of times already, fought that same old bullet sponge at least that same amount, yet it ends up on square one every- and anytime. I'd buy it!

This is even though Bungie promises there would never be microtransactions in the game. At least it'll fund future updates and its only for emotes, which only a moron would pay real live cash for.

Its funny that they charge for something so stupid though. Warframe, which is fully funded by microtransactios, doesn't even charge for emotes.

Also, Bungie said Iron Banner will be a full week. This is the second time gamespot misreported the length of the Iron Banner.

The destiny cow will be milked dry till there's nothing left but dust. Never before has a game charged $100 for DLC content within one year of its release. Activision you greedy fucks!

Mm I didnt get the expack because i still felt ripped off from the initial release, was considering it due to posiive reviews and this happens. I guess I'll save my money for bloodborne's expack instead lol

Activision has officially replaced EA as the golden poo of the gaming industry. It's a low, low bar to clear and yet somehow they have shimmied under it.

(Yes, I added a caveat so people couldn't add the completely obvious point that no video game company can be worse than some of the companies out there who do real harm.)

Starts with non-invasive to gameplay sure... sooner or later people will be able to start buying exotics with it.

I'm not surprise. Bungie overspend this shit of a game and now asking for more money. I knew Microtransactions would come into play.

But destiny has a rich story and great gameplay mechanics and if I grind for half my life I can get this plus 1 mace that only like two thirds of the players have. I hate call of duty but I like destiny cause they are different even tho unfortunately call of duty actually has you know a somewhat coherent story. But destiny is the best and everyone one is else can suck a choad!
