Destiny: Rise of Iron Expansion Won't Have Collector's Edition
Bungie confirms today that the expansion won't have a special version.
The last time Bungie announced an expansion pack for Destiny, it made the controversial decision to release several different versions of it, including an $80 collector's edition. Today, however, Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague announced that the next expansion, Rise of Iron, would not have such an edition.
Speaking on the GameSpot E3 2016 livestream, Deej stated that Rise of Iron would not have the same, somewhat confusing array of editions like The Taken King. "We're not making a collector's edition," he said definitively. "The Iron Gjallarhorn--you can get that if you preorder before launch. But we're having one version of Rise of Iron."
He also spoke a little more about the decision to bring back Gjallarhorn, Destiny's infamous rocket launcher that was not brought along into The Taken King. "Gjallarhorn will be even more powerful [than it is now], because its power levels will rise," he explained. "[It] will be restored to its old prowess. We're really looking forward to putting it back in the hands of the players... [and] every Guardian will forge the Gjallarhorn as part of a quest."
Destiny: Rise of Iron comes out on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One, and it'll include a bunch of new strikes and a new raid. There'll also be a new explorable area, called the Plaguelands.
