"The launch on Steam early access has been a resounding success," said Frank Sagnier, CEO Codemasters. "We want to thank the community for their valuable feedback and support which has guided our development for the past eight months ... We are now ready to launch the final version of the game on PC.
"Following this success on PC and a vocal demand from consumers, we are delighted to announce that Dirt Rally will be available on consoles on April 5, 2016."
The official PC launch also brings with it the Winter Wonderland update. This includes "a new rally set in the snow and ice of the Varmland region of Sweden." Also included are the Hyundai Rally and Volkswagen Polo Rally vehicles.
In GameSpot's Dirt Rally Early Access review, Richard Wakeling said Dirt Rally "has room for improvement in terms of production values, but it more than makes up for this with a robust and in-depth driving model that’s as exhilarating as it is rewarding."
He continued: "The stiff challenge it presents won't be for everyone, but the prospect of mastering its many intricacies is a tantalising proposition I'm sure many will gladly tackle.
"This is not the Dirt we once knew, but a reinvention of the series that’s going in all the right directions. You should consider getting in on the ground floor."
