The upcoming live-action remake of Mulan will not meet its August 21 release date. The film has been delayed once again due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and a new release date has not been announced by Disney.

"Over the last few months, it's become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for Mulan as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world," a Disney spokesperson explained in a statement, via The Hollywood Reporter.

Now Playing: Disney's Mulan - Official Trailer

Mulan was originally set to open in March, then again in July before settling on August 21. However, given that many movie theaters around the world remain closed because of the pandemic, its release being paused shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The announcement comes on the heels of Warner Bros. also indefinitely delaying Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Tenet.

In revealing Mulan's being delayed once again, Disney also announced delays for several upcoming Star Wars and Avatar movies. Meanwhile, it was said at the New Mutants Comic-Con@Home panel that the X-Men film was still planning some kind of release on August 28. Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Bill & Ted Face the Music will be released in theaters and digitally on August 1.
