BBC Worldwide announced today that it has partnered with Supermassive Games to deliver Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock via downloadable platforms on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PC early next year. The Eternity Clock will be the first of three Doctor Who games from the collaboration, with details on the next two games coming next year.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will put players in a wholly new storyline written with the BBC Wales team and starring the Doctor and River Song. According to BBC Worldwide, the game will have "photo-real graphics, television-quality scenes, and highly realistic characters." Full voice over from the show's stars, Matt Smith and Alex Kingston, are also in place for the puzzle-solving adventure game.

This will be the first Doctor Who title developed by Supermassive Games. The studio has previously worked on Move-enabled PS3 games, including Start the Party and Tumble. It has also developed a number of Little Big Planet 2 level packs.

Kind of wish it was a mix of puzzle and action since the Doctor can do the puzzle solving and River could do the action segments. Oh well, if nothing else it'll at least have the best Doctor since the reboot in 2005 (and probably the most fun companion since then). Now, I'd like to see Romana come back from E-Space. Actually, they could make a game with Tom Baker as the Doctor. A 3rd Doctor would also be rather great. So many possibilities, which is why I really hope they don't screw this one up.

If Sony are to aim the PS3 as the kids market Doctor Who is a decent place to start seeing as that's seemingly now aimed purely at kids these days.

This will do well on Playstation 3 and PSvita, Since it seems that Sony gamers like Doctor Who. This would do so well on Xbox 360 or Nintendo, or Apple. So For the Doctor Sony is where its is at?

Recently watched the 2005 Doctor Who, all 6 seasons that have come out now, and started from the beginning all the way from the first Doctor, and I just love this show, and I really hope that they make good games out of this. But sadly, this propably isn't going to be good. Almost every tv/movie licence game has failed. They've been just half assed games that are just a chore to play. So is there hope now? Maybe this will change everything? I hope so, but why hasn't this happened sooner? Why can't the game makers understand that they aren't making good games? And do they test those before releasing or what? How do they get to the stores like that? I just don't know. But Doctor Who universe is just so awesome, that I really hope they put real effort into this and actually make this at least good game, or even excellent.

Glad to see the series changing hands. Dr Who is too great to allow Sumo & Codemasters to make half-assed adventure games.

No XBox 360 version? What's up with that? There have been so many different Dr. Who series, I don't know how people keep up. I haven't see Dr. Who since Tom Baker starred in it. It was great back then.

Well the show hasn't been that great since Tennant and Russel T. Davies left, tbh, and the games they released last year didn't turn out too well from what I heard. So I'm not gonna have much hope for this one.

doesn't seem like there's much chance of this being good but as its been said before we can all hope. The series should be perfect for an puzzle-solving adventure game so if they can't produce something at least half decent it will be rather sad.

It's a police phone box can't you read? (semi-obvious reference Doctor Who fans will recognize)

I wonder how this'll turn out. I have been a fan of the series, off and on-like the series, since the 70s. If the game is as clever as the cleverest man in the universe, then it might just be fun.
