Shrapnel Games has today announced that it will publish Dominions 2: The Ascension Wars. The title will get a worldwide release toward the end of next month. The turn-based strategy game, which is currently in development at Sweden-based Illwinter Design Group, will be available for Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS.
"We're very excited to have a game stretch across so many computing platforms," said Tim Brooks, founder and president of Shrapnel Games. "Now gamers, no matter what OS they may use, can enjoy one of the finest strategy offerings I've played in a long time. We're really thrilled to work with Illwinter and hope that we can offer more OS-spanning games in the future."
Currently in the latter stages of beta testing, Dominions 2: The Ascension Wars is primarily a multiplayer game and features support for up to 17 players using a simultaneous turn structure. Assuming the role of a would-be god, players will have access to a number of different units including humans and fantasy creatures, as well as all manner of items and spells. Mercenary units will also feature in the game and will fight for whoever is willing to pay them the most for their services.
Dominions 2: The Ascension Wars is currently scheduled for release on October 30 and will ship with a map editor. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
