The classic shooters are coming to new platforms.

Update: QuakeCon 2019 is now officially underway, and as part of its keynote presentation, Bethesda confirmed that Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 3 are coming to new platforms. As leaked earlier on Nintendo UK's website, the classic first-person shooters are releasing on Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today, July 26. Additionally, Doom 1 and 2 are also releasing on mobile devices via the App Store and Google Play. The original story follows.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Doom, and the seminal FPS series will have a big presence at QuakeCon, which kicks off later today, July 26. Bethesda has already confirmed we'll get another look at the upcoming Doom Eternal during its QuakeCon keynote, but it appears another surprise from the event has leaked early.

Now Playing: How Doom Eternal Battlemode Works - GS News Update

As spotted by Nintendo Life, the original Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 3 have been listed for Switch on the Nintendo UK website. The pages each listed the games as releasing for Switch today, with Doom 1 and 2 priced at £4, while Doom 3 costs £8. The titles aren't live on the Switch eShop, however, and no pages for them have yet appeared on Nintendo of America's website, so it's unclear if these listings were simply a mistake or went live earlier than intended.

The QuakeCon keynote begins today at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, and it'll be followed by an Influence of Doom panel at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Bethesda will also host panels for Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Online this weekend. If you're interested in following along, you can watch the QuakeCon livestreams here.

Doom Eternal is coming to Switch as well as PS4, Xbox One, and PC this November. We got an extended look at the game during Bethesda's E3 2019 press conference, where the publisher showcased a brutal gameplay trailer and revealed the title's collector's edition, which comes with a full-size Doom Slayer helmet. You can read more in our Doom Eternal pre-order guide.

Ridiculous DRM for games almost 30 years old, crappy port with incorrect MIDI emulation that makes the song sound slower. Ported all the crap through Unity when the games have been open source long ago. Removed the old Doom downloads from the Xbox store, Bethesda does it again ladies and gentlemen.

Man, I must have 3-4 copies of each of these games by now. Already had the older games for PC. Then you bought Doom 3, it came with previous games. You bought Doom 3 ROE, it came with previous games. You bought Doom 3 BFG, it came with previous games.... Then they got cheap with the Doom reboot and want us to purchase them separately. Or if you have Doom 3 BFG for 360, you can pop it in the Xbox One and still play them all without buying them again.

I remember back in the day, you used to have to have a badass rig to run Doom 3. It was the benchmark PC game. Now it’s running on the Nintendo switch with ease lol. Oh how times have changed.

Interesting, it would be good to know if this Doom 3 is the BFG edition or just the original PC version ported.

Why do we have to set up a Bethesda account to play two games over 25 years old?

The games may be dirt cheap, but I think I'm going to pass all the same.

So if I already own DOOM 3 and The Resurrection of Evil expansion on the Original Xbox can I play those on the Xbox One instead of buying this new version?

@Marky360: I don't think so. "Doom 3" on the Xbox is considered a different game from both "Doom 3 BFG Edition" on the Xbox 360 and this new port on Xbox One. (Likewise, you couldn't throw your "Doom 3 BFG" disc into your XB1 and get this new version, but you could play it since it was put on the backwards compatibility list a while ago.)

It's easier to list the systems that Doom 1 and 2 aren't on.

Doom 64, however, is an original game and not a mere port of Doom 1 or 2. I wonder why that's never been ported.

@bouchart: My guess would be issues regarding ownership of the code. "Doom" the IP belongs to id/Bethesda, but the code for "Doom 64" was developed and published by the now-defunct Midway, and who even got that in the bankruptcy sale?

@zmanbarzel: Damn, that sucks. I am gonna pass on these games, as I played through them all recently a few years ago. (have them all on PC) However, if they were to bring Doom 64 to the Switch, I would most definitely be getting that.

That download won't take long. Just steer clear of Doom 3 if you're a scaredy cat :D

Will there be any difference between these releases and the Xbox 360 versions? I already have them through backwards-compatibility.

For Xbox One owners, just get Doom 3 BFG Edition for Xbox 360, and you can play all three games now.

26 years and now Doom is available on Switch.

We will be living in Cyberpunk 2077 when the game reaches Nintendo.

@willgner: The original Doom only took 2 years to reach Nintendo, not 26 - there was a SNES port. And there were later GBA ports of both Doom and Doom 2, so it's actually only Doom 3 which is coming to Nintendo for the first time.
