BioWare veteran David Gaider, who in his 17 years at the role-playing game studio worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and most recently Dragon Age: Inquisition, is leaving the company. Gaider, who left the Dragon Age team last year to work on a secret BioWare game, announced the news on Twitter.
Some news: I must sadly announce that, after 17 years, today is my last day at BioWare. I'll miss my team, and wish everyone here the best.
— David Gaider (@davidgaider) January 22, 2016
Gaider started at BioWare in 1999. In his time there, he worked as a writer and designer on many titles, including Baldur's Gate 2, Knights of the Old Republic, and Neverwinter Nights. He later moved on to the Dragon Age franchise, contributing to Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, and lastly Inquisition.
The games industry veteran did not say why he's leaving BioWare or what he might do next.
Gaider told Polygon that the parting from BioWare was amicable; he said it was his decision to leave.
"As to where I'm headed next, that announcement will come in due time--today's about saying goodbye and packing up," he explained.
BioWare is currently working on Mass Effect Andromeda and a new IP, among other things.
