Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 slips to Sept. 19
Nintendo bumps latest monster-hunting RPG back three weeks on DS; new ship date coincides with Kirby Mass Attack.
Nintendo has had a frazzling past couple of days, what with its decision to lop a third of the price off the 3DS and dramatically revise its full-year earnings downward in the process. The movement doesn't stop there, though, as Nintendo confirmed in a post-earnings filing today that it has shifted the release of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 in the US back three weeks.
Having previously been confirmed for an August 28 bow, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 is now expected to arrive for the DS on September 19. The game has been available in Japan since late April (where it is published by Square Enix) and has enjoyed a strong sales run. In its first week alone, the game sold more than 620,000 units.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 plays out much like other games in the Dragon Quest franchise, where turn-based battles offer players the option to fight or flee. More than 300 different monsters are available in the game, though about 50 can be gained only through the correct merging of two other species.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 will share its release date with Nintendo's own Kirby Mass Attack, which is also due to arrive for the DS on September 19. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2.
