Driveclub Dev Hit With Layoffs, Still Working on Driveclub PS Plus Edition

Driveclub is sooooo boring. It's pretty, but it is boring as heck. It's just eye candy that gets old within hours. Why do I have it anyways? I got Driveclub for Christmas from my dad and I didn't really ask for it. Gran Turismo 6 is so fun IMO. Tons of cars that feel different, amazing track variety, awesome online, free cars and tracks DLC,

there is so much to do!

This is just sad. Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Blur were my favorite arcade racers last gen, but now both Bizarre and Evolution are effectively gone. I guess there is no place for the arcade racing games anymore... :(

whats the point in working on ps plus edition?, its been and gone !!! I like to pick up and play drive club, its a good arcade racer (now the weather is there), but the devs could have capitalised big time if they had gotten it right from the start. Shame, it looks great

Good. These people failed every way possible.

All comes down too the strict launch windows. Broken games are released, Development teams are stretched beyond belief and are required to produce sweeteners if a player pre-orders the game. These sweeteners take much needed time away from testing and core development. We saw it with Ubi softs Assassins creed Unity/The Crew/Halo master chief collection to name a few. Naughty dog have pushed Uncharted four back months so they can create a polished product. I'm happy to wait for a product to be finished to the highest quality after all you would not but a TV or washing machine that didn't perform everything perfectly would you. Imagine if us gamers had the right to a refund that would put a kick up the industy!

Sucks for those affected. Not looking great for their future, but a new Motorstorm game would be awesome.

If the F&F Forza Horizon 2 hits before the PS+ Edition of DriveClub, the whole studio should be sacked.

I wonder if this team will be trusted going forward? Driveclub has been a black eye for Sony and the studio.

Oh man. One of my fav devs getting layoffs. I do agree that Driveclub had some mistakes but man how are layoffs gonna help release the psplus version? Worst case scenario, I hope this does not lead to another shutdown like Liverpool. Studio Liverpool's shutdown was already too much.

The plus edition has not been cancelled....yet.

that dont help things it fix it make things worse, it even worse when publisher has the idea to fire the original team and hand it to another team that dont know what original team did.

Publishers need to have no say in development of games they are just the publisher when they start say what the develop can and cant do and fire/changes dev teams they just make things worse...

That's shame, I was hoping for at least one Motor Storm game on PS4. They were among the most entertaining arcade racers on PS3. A HD treatment would do them well.

...and people wonder and complain about why there are so many indie games.

We will get free ODST on Halo MCC, before we get the free Drive club PS+ LOL

Feel bad for the employees, though couldn't blame Sony doing it.

This studio will be shut down... Bunch of incompetents who are not capable of releasing a working game. Sony was not happy at all about this and I bet they'll pay for it.

Here's how to get the PS+ version working. Just use 10 cars and 5 tracks. Fixed.

sounds like all but shut down , but at least they are going to continue supporting DC , and maybe transition to a support studio for other sony studios ...hello gt7

There are pros and cons of being a game developer but one devasting con is you don't know how long you will have a job. There's way too much layoffs going on in the gaming industry.
