Driver 3 delayed

Infogrames pushes back the release date for the next installment in the Driver series.

Comments

Infogrames, under the Atari label, has announced that Driver 3 is no longer being targeted for a holiday 2003 and that the new plan is to have it ship in spring 2004. The development team at Reflections Interactive has asked Infogrames for more time in order to ensure that the game meets a certain level of quality.

"Driver 3 is a complex game that comes with amazingly high expectations," said Martin Edmondson, managing and development director of Reflections Interactive. "It is important to both Reflections Interactive and Atari to dedicate the time and resources necessary to ensure that Driver 3 meets our own goals for exciting gameplay and next-gen performance laid out by our ambitious design document. Reflections has asked Atari for more time to make sure Driver 3 has only the highest production values from start to finish in all facets of the game. Atari is happy to help us do whatever it takes to redefine the genre that the Driver series created."

We'll have more on Driver 3 in the coming months.
