No matter how hard he tries, David Duchovny can't seem to shake those aliens off his tail. Three years after he left the cast of The X-Files, the actor has signed onto Area 51, Midway's remake of its classic arcade shooter.

Duchovny will play the game's hero, Ethan Cole, a soldier whose specialization in hazardous materials leads him to investigate an accident at the secret military base known as Area 51. A web of extraterrestrial conspiracy ensues, which leads Cole to the causes of the 1947 incident at Roswell, New Mexico, and the faking of the 1969 Moon mission.

Joining Duchovny is veteran character actor Powers Boothe. Most famous for his roles in Southern Comfort, Red Dawn, and U-Turn, the Texas-born thespian will play Major Bridges, Cole's commanding officer. And, in one of the most inspired voice-casting moves since Michael Ironside joined Splinter Cell, the game will feature shock-rocker Marilyn Manson as Edgar, the gray alien.

Area 51 is due for release in Q1 2005 for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. For more on the game, in general, and for the voice cast, in particular, check out GameSpot's brand-new preview.
