E3 2002: Whacked! preshow report

Presto Studios, the same development house that produced Myst III for the PC, will have its combat game at the Microsoft booth. This game will let you select from a cast of bizarre characters that includes Otto, a narcoleptic strapped to a recliner, among others. The game will have a number of modes to choose from, such as combat mode, which is essentially a race to collect resources; chicken mode, where you will have to fend off an army of angry chickens; and king of the hill, grab n' run, fragfest, and dodgeball modes. The environments in the game match the overall theme of the game--you will be doing battle underneath a Christmas tree, an arctic pipeline, and even a kitchen sink. Whacked! will also have an assortment of power-ups for you to use during the game, such as circus cannons, pitch forks, a staple gun, and a shish kebob.

Whacked! is scheduled for release in the fall.
