Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition runs in 1080p on PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One. Senior producer for the console version, Julia Humphreys, confirmed the resolution details to Joystiq in an interview this week from E3.
Both versions of Diablo III run at 60fps. "We're prioritizing frame rate," Humphreys said about the difference in resolution. It was previously confirmed that Diablo III would run in 1080p on PS4, but the Xbox One resolution was unknown.
Resolution has been a hot topic of late, as the trend continues that multiplatform games often run in a higher resolution on PlayStation 4 than Xbox One. This disparity might not last forever, though, as Microsoft recently rolled out a new Xbox One software development kit update that boosts the console's GPU power. In the case of Bungie's Destiny, this update has allowed the studio to reach 1080p on Xbox One.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition launches August 19 for PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The game contains the main Diablo III game and the Reaper of Souls expansion. As we learned at E3 this week, the PS4 version of the game includes infected from The Last of Us, as well as a special Shadow of the Colossus transmog set.
