E3 2014: The Witcher Adventure Game coming to Tabletop, iOS, and Android
Need more of The Witcher in your life? Now there's a tabletop game by veteran board game designer Ignacy Trzewiczek, and there are digital versions too.
If you want a lot more of The Witcher in your life, you're in luck. There's a tabletop game coming later this year, and it will be accompanied by fully-fledged digital versions for PC, iOS, and Android. If you're really itching to play it, you can apply to be in the closed beta as highlighted in this video.
Designed by veteran board game designer Ignacy Trzewiczek, the creator of acclaimed favorites Stronghold, 51st State, and Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island, the game blends narrative elements from the games and from Andrzej Sapkowski's famous series of novels, and these are played out through Quest Cards that the players draw before making their way across the board.
Players assume the roles of four distinct characters from the series: main hero Geralt of Rivia; sorceress Triss Merigold; dwarf warrior Yarpen Zigrin; and Dandelion, the bard. Each character has its own deck of Development Cards, so characters evolve over the course of each game by experimenting with different builds.
A variety of quests invite players to hunt monsters, earn gold and interact with the characters they meet in a similar fashion to the way they make choices when interacting in the RPG.
There is not yet a specific release date for the game, though it will be released before The Witcher 3, which is scheduled for February 2015.
