E3 2017: Here's An Xbox One X Being Assembled From Scratch

Get a much closer look inside the Xbox One X.

After the Xbox One X was announced at Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference this week, the company has published video where an engineer puts the console together piece by piece. Watch the video below to see Major Nelson and Xbox Hardware GM Leo Del Castillo assemble the console, starting with the chip at the heart of it at all, before moving on to things like the motherboard, voltage regulators, the power supply, the hard drive, and more.

It is an incredibly fascinating and in-depth look at the guts of the Xbox One X, the likes of which we rarely get from big companies like Microsoft. The segment starts at around 2 hours and six minutes, and pressing play on the video should start it at the right moment.

The Xbox One X launches on November 7, priced at $500. The console plays all Xbox One games and work with controllers you already own. Regarding the price point, a number of analysts said this week that they believe $500 is too expensive.

GameSpot spoke with Microsoft this week about the console's $500 price point, and the company believes no other console out there is doing what Xbox One X does. For lots more on Xbox One X, check out GameSpot's breakdown of the Xbox One X specs in this video and our roundup of everything you need to know about the console.

this was a great feed; however, it would've been more impactful if Phil was there instead of Larry.

I was surprised that he was wrong about MS beeing the first to use vaporchambers in a consumer electronics. Saphire released the 3870 Atomic edition gpu back in 2008 with vaporchamber cooling. Not to mention the plethora of cpu coolers that has used vaporchambers for years. Pc components also count as consumer electronics or "Brown goods" if you are in the UK.

The CPU is so garbo. Imagine if this console had Ryzen... it would've been a glorious console. But noooooooooo we're stuck with this f00kin' Jaguar yet again.

@Syferonik: it's not a jaguar anymore it is custom it has nothing in common with the jag. You can.look that up anywhere. If it had ryzen it would be over 1000 dollars. On top of that to bulid something to run like 1x it would cost you at least 1000 dollars.

@Evo8u: omg dude its a Jag... Yes, it would cost more with a Ryzen inside, but of all the companies, MS is the one that could lose some money on console sales but get it back with their XBL/game sales.

@Syferonik: keep telling yourself.that. its custom and that is how its classified. They made major steps to customize the chip to eliminate bottlenecking the CPU. Fact! Stay in denial all you want to. You only Sony owing fanboys are so delusional! If its Playstation its the greatest and power only matters to us when our console is the most powerful but when its not games matter.

@Evo8u: A custom Civic is still a Civic. It's a customized Jaguar CPU. Unless you have another name for it besides "custom CPU"

@Syferonik: So what it is, you not going to buy it so your point is now moot and why go on. If you feel so bad about it go build your own system and then you can put in what you like.

@Evo8u: You can bitch n moan all you want. A Jag stays a Jag. And just for special people like you, PS4Pro's cpu is also "custom"... Custom Jag garbage is what it is.

You can keep telling yourself the cpu inside the X is worthwhile, but in reality, its a mediocre cpu that is on par with an ancient i3 lmao.

@lonesamurai1: His obvious lack of knowledge and absence of meaningful contribution in that video were anything but generic.
