E3 2018: Bethesda Jokes About Skyrim On Amazon Alexa, But It's Actually Real

Update: Although Skyrim Very Special Edition was presented as a joke during Bethesda's press conference, it turns out that the Amazon Alexa-compatible version of the game is actually real. On the Alexa store page, the description reads: "Bethesda Game Studios is proud to present Skyrim... for Alexa. Yes, that’s right, the version of Skyrim you never saw coming has finally arrived on the platform you never asked for."

Despite the jokey tone of the product description, we've confirmed that Skyrim Very Special Edition is a real thing you can play. Like in the skit, it is voice-controlled. Below is the (very cheeky) full list of features included in this version of Skyrim. Prepare to:

• Quest and explore the dungeons of Skyrim
• Master your weapons, spells and shouts
• Encounter people who constantly need your help
• Guard your knees against arrows
• Fatally harm mudcrabs
• Fight dragons

• Fight another dragon
• Eat sweet rolls

• Burn spiders
• Walk straight up a mountain instead of going around

Original story: Todd Howard took the stage at Bethesda's E3 2018 conference to give more details about Fallout 76, but first, the Bethesda Game Studios director made the ultimate dad joke about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim--including a skit with a special guest.

"We know that most of you came here for one thing," he said. "I think it's to see where we're putting Skyrim next." This was followed by a skit starring Key & Peele's Keegan-Michael Key, which you can watch above.

The skit begins with Key looking at several controllers, including a Switch, before asking Amazon's Alexa to play Skyrim. They then "play" Skyrim in the style of a text-based RPG. Alexa even says Lydia's iconic line, "I am sworn to carry your burdens."
