E3 2019: Bethesda Is Letting You Play Fallout 76 For Free, Timed With Battle Royale Mode Launch
Free is a nice price.
A free trial for Bethesda's beleaguered online Fallout game, Fallout 76, will be available starting very soon. During the publisher's E3 2019 press conference today, the company said that the free trial will kick off on June 10 and will run for a full week, ending on June 17.
June 10 is also the day that Fallout 76's battle royale mode, Nuclear Winter, is released. It seems likely that the free trial and the launch of the battle royale mode were timed together to try to get more people into the game.
In other Fallout 76 news, Bethesda also announced a free new update, Wastelanders, which is coming this fall. It features human NPCs, which is something people have been clamoring for since before launch, as well as dialogue trees and more story elements. The company also acknowledge the struggles the game has faced as Bethesda set out to make a type of game it hadn't tackled before, but it made it clear it remains committed to continuing to improve it with significant free updates.
