EA again in running for Consumerist's Worst Company In America title

The most ironic thing for me is now that I finally have a pc that can handle any game, there are no games for me to buy. EA is ruining my favorite franchises with their online only shift. I don't play FPS games, there hasn't been a decent driving game this year to get my attention. Flight Sims are declining. This could be the end of gaming as I know it. Well there is always Spider Solitaire.

Someone needs to BAN game companies from buying out other game companies. What they should do is if they want to buy other smaller game companies, then there has to be NO name of the smaller company what so ever . That way people won't get fooled when they see a good but small game company which makes a game but is then bought out by companies like EA , who make the smaller company add DRM , microtransactions and on disk DLC's .... .. gasp gasp... aaawww fck it.. i am tired. No money for u EA.

This is something that has been apparent to any gamer with a half a brain for sometime now. These game developers are losing money not because of piracy, lets be real here, yes piracy contributes some tiny nearly insignificant sum to the total. The reason they aren't making the big bucks is because they are releasing SH!T products! And the games seem to be getting worse with every year, at the same time the prices on said games are going up every year. As much as it pains me to say it(being strictly PC gamer) I see the future of gaming as follows: all the cash greedy developers(EA and the like) will stop releasing PC games because piracy is so harmful to their sales, and then(!!) the indy game studios will step up to fill the void(as they already partially are) and they will create services like Humble Bundle where YOU set the price. And then in time the indies will become super duper megacorps like the above mentioned EA and the circle will repeat itself.

Oh right, what about all them console gamers? Well, they're already happily paying $60+ for these POS games, don't hear much complaining out of them... they will continue to do so until the prices reach a level that most really, honestly, won't be able to afford at which point the console gamers will buy PCs and join the rest of us in the "circle."

Why is Capcom not on the list as well? Ah well,at least they're on it(EA), hope they do come out on top; but really, EA need's to get gone!

They only speak one language...money. So long as we keep throwing it at them, we should expect them to continue to throw garbage at us, we only have ourselves to blame.

Apple is making gross profits while accepting Chinese factory and mandated living conditions that would put historical slavery to shame.

I doubt EA needs suicide (prevention) nets around its building as does apple needs for its.

People should stop buying all the crap titles they regurgitate yearly. They need more heavy loses before they understand the importance of keeping a certain level of quality to their games and to treat customers with respect.

@pensfan12 Facebook is there because it doesn't listen to its customers, has poor security and it frequently shares user information without permission. Google is there because it saves and shares your search queries without your permission.

Yet idiots keep buying it. 1.1 million in Simcity sales. /facepalm

EA get a tough time, fair enough they release the same games every year but people still buy them, they wouldn't release them if they weren't guarenteed to make money, also in terms of Sim City it looks like every effort is being made to fix it, if you don't like it don't buy it, I don't like a lot of their games so i don't buy them

@pensfan12 Why wouldn't Facebook, Google and Apple be there? Surely you can't be so blind that you think that these corporations are like saints?

@pensfan12 Readers nominated them over like 3 months then they take the ones with the most nominations so basically the list is the most hated company's in the eyes of consumerist readers not the consumerist itself.

Too bad the financial ecosystem does not give one flying $hit about these ratings or awards. These companies continue to make money hand over fist.

id say Banks in general are despicable #1 , but EA is a close second

What I will never understand is when you are up for this award why in the hell would it not make you think about what in the hell you are doing. I wouldn't care how much money I was making, morals will always take over and the guilt wouldn't let me sleep at night. It's always been a pet peeve of mine when people don't learn from their mistakes because they have their heads so far up their asses. I am sure we all know someone like that.

I too... would be happy to see EA get this award. They treat their customer like shit and try to nickle and dime every little aspect of their games. Literally... I can't buy NCAA, Madden or any sports game ever game due to them.

Now they are trying to do it with other games... sheesh.

Go EA!! One award that you do especially do need to win, i will will be rooting for you!

I remember going to the store and looking at cover of SimCity, it said "Continuous Internet Connection" required. I quickly put it back on the shelf like it was the devil's spawn.
