EA Is Delisting Several Battlefield Games In April, Servers Shutting Down

Online functionality ends in December.

Electronic Arts announced that it will be delisting Battlefield 1943 as well as Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 from digital storefronts on April 28. Additionally, their online services will shut down on December 8. A previous announcement also included Mirror's Edge, but this was omitted from an updated version several hours later and now it appears it will not be delisted. Oddly, this didn't appear to be a mistake when it was first posted, as the statement mentions Mirror's Edge and its parkour specifically.

"While these titles hold a special place in our heart, we’re now looking forward to creating new memories alongside you as we shift our focus towards our current and future Battlefield experiences," reads a statement on EA's website. "And while not a Battlefield title, many of us who work on Battlefield have also been part of the development of Mirror’s Edge. We look back fondly on Faith as an iconic character, and her parkour-style gameplay."

While these games will soon no longer be able to be purchased, offline features such as single-player campaigns will still be playable for Bad Company 1 & 2 after December 8. Battlefield 1943 is an online-only multiplayer game, so after the date has passed, it will be unplayable.

These are the latest EA games to have their upcoming online functionality removed. Last year, EA shut down several servers, such as several games in the Command & Conquer series and Onrush. Mirror's Edge's online shutdown was previously announced to be January 19, 2023.

I still play Bad Company 2, delisting it will kill it as most people I see playing have just bought it to check it out cause of a Youtube video they saw.

Such a shame because it's the last good Battlefield game.

@Slannmage: It's the first and only Battlefield game I've loved. I didn't like BF3/4 at all and just bailed out of the series afterwards. Played that game religiously.

Looks like the only way to currently buy 1943 and Bad Company 1 is through the Xbox store if you have a Xbox one, Series S or X.
