EA Play On Xbox Game Pass PC Delayed At Last Minute
EA's game subscription service will not be available through Xbox Game Pass PC until 2021, contradicting previous announcements.
If you were hoping to access EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass to play through notable games like Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, we've got some bad news for you. Though the cross-service was previously announced to make its debut today, Microsoft and EA have delayed it until 2021.
EA Play rolled out for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers back on November 10 on Xbox consoles like the Series X. The service was supposed to become available on PC for PC or Ultimate Game Pass subscribers today, but unfortunately that's no longer the case. EA Play previously came to Steam back in August.
EA Play is EA's gaming subscription service. Like Xbox Game Pass, it allows you to access a library of games that changes periodically. However, there are two different tiers of service. The more-expensive EA Play Pro allows users to access the publisher's newest games with no limits, and often ahead of the game's actual release date. In contrast, EA Play gives users access to the publisher's backlog of games, with only time-limited access to the newest games.
Like EA Play, Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service for both Xbox and PC players that offers an ever-shifting library of games for a monthly fee. Microsoft recently announced that the "engagement" with Xbox Game Pass--a nebulous measure--has more than doubled in November 2020 compared to November 2019. It also listed some of the most popular titles in Game Pass, including Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Rainbow Six Siege, Tetris Effect: Connected, and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Unfortunately for PC subscribers, Fallen Order isn't available until 2021.
