Westwood Studios has announced that its upcoming massively multiplayer online game Earth & Beyond will be released on September 17, despite the fact that it was originally scheduled for release this August. Westwood is offering a preorder program that will let anyone who has preordered the game through Electronics Boutique or GameStop visit a participating store location and pick up a beta CD starting August 5. Anyone with a beta CD will be able to participate in the final stages of the game's beta testing without having to sign up at Westwood's site.

Earth & Beyond will be a massively multiplayer online game that will let players explore and conquer space. Players choose a character from one of several different races and pilot progressively more powerful spaceships. For more information on the game, check out our previous coverage .
