EA's Origin download hub adding 11 new publishers

So this Origin trojan is still not being deleted by antivirus and antispyware programs, too bad. Well, have your fun, EA - As long as this Origin crap is optional I can keep ignoring you and buy the games on Steam or directly from the developers. The day when any of the games I did not buy from you but another source install your Origin trojan on my PC (without mentioning it as requirement or asking before installation) will be the day I drive over to your nearest headquarter and burn you to the ground. (just so you know)

Origin's purpose was to cash in on BF3... Nuff said.

Will be interesting to see if this starts pulling other devs/publishers from Steam as well, will be even more interesting to see who the devs/publishers say they sell more on.

I've used Steam for a long time now for the nice sales they give and the ease of downloading, patching etc. etc. Origin on the other hand, has practically no sales, you have to pay taxes. And 9 times out of 10 the damn thing doesn't even work! I own quite easily 60+ games on Steam, I've had minor steam related problems with maybe 4 or 5 and even then all but one of those was resolved quickly, easily and there was never a second problem. Origin on the other hand I only have purchased 3 games through: Dragon Age 2 (Also, screw you EA for destroying Bioware...), The Old Republic digital edition, and BF 3. Now keep in mind that's only 3 games, 2 of which don't even run on Origin. Now think of the fact that I've had to make 9 calls to customer service, two of which were well over an hour long. TL;DR Fix your programs before you start pushing them on us EA.

one day ea might realize they have nothing on steam or even gfwl for that matter and just dump it. I don't want all my games to be across lots of different systems. If just ea would use steamworks instead but I'm just dreaming thinking that might happen. Pc games should either used steamworks or gfwl every other system just plain sux.

who in their right minds will buy games from origin till steam is around??

Origin is an absolute joke, I don't think I've EVER used it once, the only reason I downloaded that steaming turd was for BF3, and I open the game through Battlelog.com (which I must say, I love using.. I was skeptical about it at first)!

why would you buy a game from Origin when they charge you tax? Yeah that right Tax. EA mentally Challenged :)

CD Projekt? :roll: I have always been in doubt about CD Projekt's commitment to its no-DRM policies ever since I noticed that it puts up its games on Steam - and now Origin? Either those "no-DRM" policies are just double-speak or CD Projekt doesn't recognize background-running service client software as a form of DRM. :?

ea it is good what you are doing adding new publishers... now if only you could spend some time fixing origin and making it easy to use and user friendly because it is utter trash right now. The interface is a joke.....

CD Projekt Red, eh ? First they'll sell their games through EA and then they'll sell themselves TO EA....mark my words. Perfect opportunity to swallow up a competitor to future generic DA games. EA Warszawa anyone ?

I don't think it's a bad thing to have another digital distribution venue for games, but there are already some pretty good options out there with more coming soon, so EA has their work cut out for them if they want gamers to switch to using their service.

More companies on Origin, and more places/sites to buy a game can only be a good thing. Lets just hope EA doesn't throw it's weight around and start telling "partners" that they can't sell their games via Steam or other rival DD outlets, or that Origin needs to be exclusive for a certain amount of time. Doing that with their own games (BF3) is one thing, but don't want to see it applied across the board. Now Origin need to focus on the pricing - can't beat a good Steam sale :)

while this is nice for competition, i think the only reason anyone (myself included) even uses origin is because EA forces you for their games to get a userbase and thats what ticks me off

Great. More overpriced games that I can get cheaper through Steam. Maybe EA will attach dlc to these games on more of their toys, lol.

Getting publishers to put their game on your platform is one thing. Actually getting consumers to buy these titles (never 'gonna happen) is another. I'm fine with Steam, thanks.

@Crash_WL I had similar issues. Steam updated and corrupted my account. Their support sucks and act high and mighty. They finally fixed it but it took a week. LOL wut?

You damn Steam fanboys are amusing. Do you not find it admirable that in a matter of months many publishers, of varying sizes, have joined this new service? That smaller publishers are getting some spotlights on them? That gems like The Witcher 2 are getting even more widespread? Did Steam kick off and was perfect? You have such a selective memory, it's not even funny anymore, with all the bashing and piracy-endorsing comments ("I'd rather pirate than buy wah"). Nice, we get it, you hate EA. It's starting to become more stale than the "CoD is copy-paste wah wah" comments. Also: "Steam is having trouble connecting to the steam servers." Took me 3 days to finally reconnect. I tried getting the support's help, and told me what users told me: delete the *.blob file. Aaaah fine, deleted it. When I rebooted Steam, it reappeared. Uninstalled Steam, re-installed Steam, same crap. After 3 days, it decided it should work. And that was around a month ago, but hey, I must be alone on the planet experiencing this, Steam is perfect!

Nice! The more money CDProjekt gets the better, those guys absolutely deserve even more sales than CoD if you ask me.

Anyone knows if the Mass Effect 3 version sold on Direct2drive requieres Origin to work? The less intermediary software and passwords I have to use, the better. To the least... does Origin still includes that infamous Hard Drive scanner?

Funny because when I start up Origin it still says beta at the top. It sure acts a like its in beta, for example when I couldnt play the BF3 campaign unless Origin was in "play offline" mode. Took me hours to figure that one out (after talking to the imbeciles at Origin customer support). Origin is the devil as far as I'm concerned.

Boooo Still refusing to play Crysis 2, BF3, and even ME3 (this one really hurts) because they're not on Steam!

Looks like EA want to give Steam some competition

I like Origin. Unlike Steam, they also ship games, and they are many times much cheaper. And competition is good. Otherwise when Activision Blizzard buys Valve, our entire game library of games will be buried in Call of Duty adds.

Lets see here... trust Gabe Newell or the people who ruined Bioware.... Yeah, I think the choice is obvious... Sorry EA, you're all evil, I'd rather pirate than buy games from you (And I hate pirates)
