Ecco Splashes Into Stores
Sega takes gamers back to the deep blue sea.
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, the sequel to the popular Sega Genesis game, has been released for the Sega Dreamcast. The game's representation of expansive underwater civilizations and marine environments makes it one of the more visually stunning titles for the Dreamcast. It was created through the study of hundreds of videos from the National Geographic Society, and Sega promises that Ecco's world will simulate real oceanic animal behavior and use dynamic lighting and an ambient soundtrack to reproduce the world's underwater realm.
"Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future is a graphical masterpiece and a game that will entertain both casual and hard-core gamers alike," said Charles Bellfield, director of marketing communications for Sega of America. "With an engaging storyline, breakthrough graphics, and intriguing puzzles and mazes, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future provides a new adventure for the Sega Dreamcast."
Players assume the role of a bottlenose dolphin who must repair damage inflicted on the world's oceans by an enemy known only as Foe. The game carries a suggested retail price of US$39.95.
