Enix fixes Star Ocean 3 bug, reships game

The Japanese version of Star Ocean 3 runs into software problems.

In Japan, Enix has begun to ship fixed copies of its latest PlayStation 2 RPG, Star Ocean - Till the End of Time. In the previous shipment, a bug existed in certain parts of the game (in the fight simulator and during a boss battle in the ruins) that caused it to freeze on PS2 consoles with the model number "SCPH-10000." The bug was due to a code glitch in Sony Computer Entertainment's library, distributed to third parties for use in software development.

Enix revealed the bug on March 5, and Sony has been recalling copies from store shelves since March 11. The fixed copies of Star Ocean 3 have a blue label on the upper left side of the package and are now arriving at retailers. Customers having issues with the previous version may also contact Sony Computer Entertainment to exchange their copies.
