Enix plans Torneko 3 for the PlayStation 2

According to this week's issue of the Japanese publication Weekly Jump, Enix plans to release Torneko's Adventures 3: Mysterious Dungeon for the PlayStation 2 in Japan. The third installment in the series takes place six years after the previous game, when the Torneko family takes a vacation and accidentally reaches a tropical island. The game will now feature 3D environments, field maps, and partners who will join players as they venture through the dungeons.

Developed by Chun Soft, the Torneko series debuted on the Super Famicom in 1993. A sequel was released on the PlayStation in North America under the name Torneko: The Last Hope. Torneko's Adventures 3: Mysterious Dungeon for the PlayStation 2 is currently scheduled for a release sometime this year in Japan. No North American release has been announced.
