Escape Velocity Nova released

Ambrosia releases the PC version of its space combat and trading game.

Comments

As expected, Ambrosia Software has today released the PC version of Escape Velocity Nova. This is the third game in the Escape Velocity series and the first to make the transition from the Mac to the PC. Nova puts players into a sprawling universe that was once united by the Colonial Council, but a rebellion led to the destruction of parts of the hypergate system, causing some systems to be cut off from civilization and the eventual collapse of the central government. Only now has the technology been rediscovered to reconnect these far-flung groups, and the result isn't necessarily peaceful.

The 2D space game puts players in the middle of a changing galaxy. There are a wide variety of missions to undertake and an array of ships to buy or take as upgrades. The gameplay is quite free-form. Factions will offer players different opportunities, and trading and combat are both paths to success.

The 75MB download includes a limited demo mode, and the full game can be unlocked for $30 by purchasing a code from Ambrosia's Web site. The file can be downloaded from the link below or from Ambrosia.
