Sony Online Entertainment has announced a partnership with NCsoft to promote EverQuest, Sony's popular online role-playing game, in Korea and other Asian territories, including Taiwan and Hong Kong. NCsoft is the company that created Lineage: The Blood Pledge, an online role-playing game that has enjoyed particular success in the Asian market and currently claims more than 4 million active subscribers.

"One of our main goals at Sony Online is to expand the online gaming community by making great games like EverQuest readily available to consumers around the globe," said Kelly Flock, president of Sony Online Entertainment. "NCsoft is the perfect partner given its knowledge of the Korean game market, its own success with Lineage, and its direct access to millions of gamers from day one."

Sony Online recently launched its first developing in-game chat translation tools to let players from around the world communicate with one another using their native languages.

EverQuest was developed by Verant Interactive and launched in February 1999. The game has since grown to include more than 400,000 subscribers, making it one of the most popular online role-playing games in the world. For more information, take a look at our EverQuest archive.
