Every Upcoming Star Wars Movie And TV Show In The Works
Disney has so many Star Wars movies and TV shows on the way and revealed most of them in their massive investor call. Here's what we know!
The future of Star Wars is incredibly busy. Between a long slate of movies and TV shows revealed during a recent Disnery investor event and the spin-off revealed during The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale, there will be plenty of Star Wars for years to come. Some of the projects we already knew about and are currently in production, while others were genuine surprises.

Movies
- Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins is making a Star Wars movie, and it'll be the next entry from the franchise to hit the big screen. Rogue Squadron centers on fighter pilots in a galaxy far, far away. No details have been revealed, but Jenkins shared a short video about her excitement, which you can see below. Rogue Squadron is set for theaters in late 2023.

- Untitled Taika Waititi project
We have no idea what this will be about, but Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is developing his own Star Wars film. While discussing the movie, Kennedy said, "Taika's approach to Star Wars will be fresh, unexpected, and unique. his enormous talent and sense of humor will ensure that audiences are in for an unforgettable ride. He's currently hard at work writing this next adventure."
Live-action TV shows
- Rangers of the New Republic
The first of two Mandalorian spin-offs is Rangers of the New Republic. While there were no details, those X-Wing cops have shown up a lot in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and now Cara Dune (Gina Carano) has joined their ranks. Chances are that will fit into this new series.
- Ahsoka
After her appearance in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, a live-action Ahsoka Tano series is in the works at Disney+. As with the other spin-off, details are slim. However, we know Rosario Dawson is returning to the role.
- Andor
The Disney+ series about Rogue One character Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) is in production now and the first footage from the set was revealed.

- Obi-Wan Kenobi
We already knew this series was in the works, but Kennedy revealed that none other than Hayden Christensen will reprise his Star Wars prequels role as Darth Vader in the series. This show is set 10 years after the prequels.

- Lando
Yes, a Lando Calrissian series is happening. Dear White People creator Justin Simien is developing the series. What's interesting is that it was not revealed who would be playing Lando. Will Donald Glover be back to portray the version of the character seen in Solo? Is this set later in the Star Wars timeline with Billy Dee Williams returning? Who knows?
- The Acolyte
This series comes from Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland. A description reads, "The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era."
- The Book of Boba Fett
This Mandalorian spin-off was revealed in a post-credits sequence during the parent show's Season 2 finale. It will follow Boba Fett in the aftermath of The Mandalorian's latest season.
Animated shows
- The Bad Batch
The animated follow up to The Clone Wars revealed footage during the investor call, giving fans a sneak peek at what's to come.

- Visions
This original series will be a collection of short films from a number of Japanese anime creators. No details were shared, but Visions will debut in 2021.
- A Droid Story
R2-D2 and C-3PO are back in a new animated special in which they are guiding a new Star Wars hero.
