Fable: The Balverine Order hitting October 5 - Retail Radar
Novel continues Albion adventure courtesy of prolific scribe Peter David; $10 book comes with code to download in-game weapon.
Last week, Microsoft announced a Fable III-inspired limited edition kingly Xbox 360 controller that packs in an exclusive in-game item. The $60 controller hits October 5, but that's not the only Fable-themed item shipping on that day.
According to a listing on Amazon, prolific writer Peter David (Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Batman) will pen an Albion narrative extension dubbed Fable: The Balverine Order. The online megaretailer lists the novel as hitting shelves on October 5, which is well ahead of the game's October 26 date with retail. (A PC version of the action role-playing game is also planned but has been bumped to an indeterminate future date).
According to the item's product description, the novel will center upon two friends--the privileged Thomas and his faithful servant, John--and their quest east to seek out the elusive legendary Balverine beasts.
Additionally, the book's cover art (pictured) reveals that those who pick up the title will also earn a unique in-game weapon. Unfortunately, the description did not provide further details on the pack-in. As of press time, Microsoft has not responded to GameSpot's request for comment or clarification on the matter.
