Facebook hits 1 billion users

Whoop di doo.. I never really had a Myspace page and neither a Facebook... Who needs it hah! I just don't like people bothering me 24/7 and from what I hear from FB attics there's also a lot of drama going down... And I ain't got time for that BS also. But my girl has a FB page and she's on it like flies on sh** lol! I don't need that much attention but nowadays people seem obsessed with posting pics of themselves lol idiots

Actually, they're back down to 999,999,999 accounts. I closed mine yesterday.

They now know everything about everyone.

I use to be so into FB! Thank the Lord I calmed down. It got to the point that upkeeping FB was a 2nd job! Its still the premier place to catch what all of your friends are doing.

I don't think it hit 1 billion users. 1 Billion accounts maybe. I know people that have 5-10 accounts just for themselves.

Well if I've learned anything from this article , it's how much a self-righteous , hypocritical , arrogant , pr###s most of you are. You ''hate'' facebook because it's the new norm and those who use it consider anyone that doesn't have it to be a ''loser''. But you brag about not having one and say anyone that has one has no life. You say facebook users are obsessed with impressing others... well what are you doing right now? You obviously have something to prove either to yourself or everyone on this page by your revelry in the fact you don't own a facebook account. Ok , you don't have a facebook account , you don't go there anymore .... want a cookie for it? Sure there are a lot of low quality fads that are popular only because of peer pressure. But it hasn't crossed your cynical minds that it just might be popular because it's a good way to keep in touch with people? Sure there are a lot of people that misuse it , but for that matter a lot of people misuse the gamespot community , or anything on the internet for that matter. You keep on feeding off of each other's facebook bashing , I'm sure all 1billion could care less what you think.

Just in time to catch me walking out the door. I don't mean to be cynical or get all misanthropic, but my time spent on facebook made me realize just how much I utterly abhor most people. All people really use facebook for is to try and make their lives sound or appear amazing. Sorry, person who I met only a handful of times and now question what it is I ever saw in you, I don't care what you're having for dinner. Thanks for the picture, though. Drama at work/in your social circle? It's cool because I know you're going to post a famous quote that you only take seriously for about half an hour, until you revert back into the self-absorbed and wildly insecure egomaniac that you are.

I have no problems with Facebook. There are times when it is more convenient to use as a form of communication, usually when my friends and I share links.

You people are wondering why is this on a gaming site? Well, to answer the question. Facebook have their games. So that's 1 point. But here's another point. Facebook is also used in other games, outside the site itself. To share information/stats about your progress in the games. So that's why this news is here.

I've been against Facecrook since the beginning. If someone actually gets upset that he/she didn't get comments on a latest photo or vacation story, it is the saddest thing in the world. Most of my family and friends use FB daily, and it's the number one topic of conversation: "Did you see my new pictures? No? I can't believe it! Why not?" Or my favorite: "Did you see what Larry wrote to so-and-so?" It's drama beyond drama, and idiocy to the highest degree.

One of the best things I ever did was get rid of my Facebook account. You really know who your friends are once you do.

i have a facebook which a check on my windows phone occasionally but i have to admit it is a load of crap. . only on it because its another way to keep in touch with friends and fam. can't believe so many people use the crap. my space back in the day was much better.

The only reason i ave one is to make it easy to post comments on most site so i do not have to sing up for them. I will never put any personal information or pictures of me making dumb faces to make my face look skinny on that web site. "BIG BROTHER" is watching you and people who might stalk you and do harm to you.

One billion sheep and counting. I know it sounds like I am being mean, but I have plenty of family and friens who facebook, but yeah, they are still sheep.

I decided to remove my facebook account. I think FB is stupid. These days i only see morons posting like some nasty shit on their profile's (WTF?) And its like "cool" these days to own FB. if you dont own it, your a low level. Sigh, the society.

yeah because so called psychologist announced by not having facebook mean you are a terrorist, psychopath or serial killer. if you want to have a job, fb or twitter is mandatory these days *sigh*

I fail to see any connection between FB and GS... but it's not my call to judge.Sad thing about those numbers is that they're fake... I know over 10 people in real life who have multiple accounts... my co-worker's girlfriend has 16 accounts, while one is titled to her real name all other 15 are fake names for the games... she's the extremist... others have around five accounts... and that's just IRL people... I know over 30 online people with multiple accounts.

Not to mention that all people who leave FB still count... I fail to see how they excluded those "fake" accounts, did they enter each account and checked the messages, photos and updates? If they did... wow... 1 billion active accounts, with probably 2 billion inactive or fake... they clicked their souls out...

According to them, every seventh person has a FB account... I fail to see that as true... I've met a lot of people in my life and I'm 100% positive most of them don't have BF account. Most who do are kids and young adults.

I have nothing against FB, so I'm not BlTCHING it... I do see some good points in FB, it only saddens me when I see some dear people being totally addicted to it. One of my best friends post around 20 posts a day and spend over 3-4 hours a day on it... sad...

Eddie's irrelevance aside. I don't think many of you realize how ridiculous you sound trying to prove how indie cool you are by bashing facebook because it's popular and successful. It's a legitimate source for communication. Keep on cracking the jokes about how people that have facebook have no life , the end of the day both of you are sitting at a computer , not outside , just doing different things.They might have spent an hour sharing things they found interesting with their friends or getting to know an acquaintance from work or school , but you probably spent longer looting and fighting dragons , who're you to get self-righteous against how they spent their time? My sister lives out of state , I suppose you'd much rather me write her a letter huh? Anyone that uses facebook doesn't have a life? While we're enforcing massive stereotypes I suppose all of you live in your mother's basements and hit on girls at comic con because you play games? You're not convincing anyone that you're cool by bragging that you don't have facebook and bashing anyone that does , you're just making yourself look like a self-righteous judgmental a-hole.

Wow a lot of these comments are just awful.. If you want to keep in touch with people you haven't talked to in a long time, facebook is great. It's also great for sharing things with friends, articles you think they'll find interesting, music, and whatever else. It's a tool, it's not inherently evil, so while you may have friends who waste several hours a day on it, post photos of themselves doing stupid things, or become friends with people they don't know, it's their own fault. Stupid people do stupid things. Believe me, as you grow up, you'll learn more and more how stupid people are and just how they can screw themselves over. Facebook just happens to be a commonly misused site.
