Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls 4, And Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Join Xbox One's Games Pass In July

Give us all the RPGs!

July just got a little sweeter for Games Pass subscribers. A whole new batch of Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles are dropping this month, including The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, which released in March this year, and Fallout 3.

Last month we saw Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online join the service, which already includes tons of other Xbox hits ranging from Halo 5 to Gears of War 4. Xbox confirmed this year all of its first-party titles releasing from now on will also come to the service as they launch for retail. Larry Hryb revealed this month's launches on Twitter.

Unlike Games With Gold, Games Pass doesn't give you free games, but gives you access to 100+ downloadable titles and discounts to buy them for a monthly fee. As long as you are subscribed, you will have access to its entire catalog. The titles also don't become available at the beginning or middle of the month, but rather throughout the month. You can check out what's joining the catalog this month below.

From what we can tell, this month's additions are only for the base games and do not include any add-on content. So if you've been pining for Oblivion's Shivering Isles DLC, you'll have to fork out some extra cash.

In other Xbox news, this week is your last chance to pick up this month's Games with Gold titles. There's also a sale in the Xbox Store with free DLC you won't want to miss out on.

Is it weird I just want to play Abzu, Human: Fall Flat, and Bomber Crew lol. I'm excited to check out Vermintide too, been hearing tons of great things.

@cyrribrae: It's so good. I maxed out one character on the PC and took a break because only a handful of my friends have a gaming PC. Can't wait to jump back in and level up another character alongside my best friends.

Vermintide 2?!? I've been playing the beta on XOX for the last 2 weeks and IT IS INCREDIBLE.

So now there's a real debate... Do I keep doing things "the old way," and buy 2 copies for me & the wife, or do I just buy us each a GP sub under our Gold accounts? It's break even for the first few months...

But I already own literally every single other gane on GP that isn't sports or driving or Ubi.

@Pyrosa: Holy crap.. really? If that's the case, you guys should just get the pass (unless you're philosophically opposed to potentially losing access to games. But.. if you already buy all the games... I don't think you'll have much time to revisit anyway XD). Since new games like Vermintide and PES 2018 and all the 1st party are launching onto Game Pass, that break even point will just keep moving forward. Heck, just saving the $50 on Forza Horizon 4 is a good chunk of the year.

This is awesome to be honest I just played the Vermantide 2 beta this past weekend and it was pretty damn good was thinking about picking it up now I don't have to lol. I was also thinking about picking up Oblivion on the Steam sale since it's only $10 bucks but now I don't have to I can get it on Xbox through Gamepass instead.

As great as this is, I am worried these games will be timed and succumb to similar fate of other Game Pass games being removed months down the road.

Hopefully they won't though!

@Ice-Cube: Quite a few do get removed (which I think is necessary. Games can get stale and clog up a spot, so to speak. A tight catalog helps keep things interesting and discoverable.) That said, you can play them for very cheap for a long while, and if you really like them, you can still purchase the game at a discount. Almost all games should be "timed" since I don't think anyone would sign a forever contract with game pass. But, some of the games that have left Game Pass are already back on, so I think the momentum is looking good for the service overall

@Ice-Cube:

Only games I have seen get removed from the service so far is Metal Gear Solid V but then they turned around and gave it to us as a Games with Gold game. I think WWE 2K17 got removed from the service as well but that one was a bit weirder as they didn't even announce its removal it was just gone one day.

At this point it doesn’t make sense not to have game pass.
