Far Cry 5 PC System Requirements, 4K Recommended Specs Announced

Thanks to a delay announced last year, the release of Far Cry 5 is still a ways off, as it's not due out until the end of March. That gives those who intend to play the game on PC plenty of time to upgrade their computer if they have to, although as we've now learned, the requirements are relatively modest.

Ubisoft has announced some of the details of what to expect from the PC version of Far Cry 5, including both its system requirements and the recommended specs. As is typically the case with the publisher's games, the minimum hardware cited is to run the game at 720p and with video presets at Low. If you're targeting that baseline, you'll need only an Intel i5-2400 or AMD FX-6300 paired with an Nvidia GTX 670 or AMD R9 270 and 8 GB of RAM.

If you're looking for a more high-end experience, Ubisoft also shared three different recommended configurations. One is to run the game at 1080p with High presets, while two others are to hit 4K with target framerates of 30 FPS and 60 FPS. In the latter case, the demands are quite high: You'll need an i7-6700K or Ryzen 7 1700X, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1080 SLI or RX Vega 56 CFX.

The PC version will include a benchmarking feature to help you tune settings to your specific setup, as will a meter that measures the amount of video memory consumed by your selections. Among the options you'll find are variant aspect ratios (there's no word on ultrawide specifically), FPS locks, resolution scaling, and field-of-view settings.
