Fast and Furious 9 and 10 Release Dates Confirmed

"2 decades, 10 films, 1 saga."

Few movie franchises score their biggest successes seven films in, but the Fast and Furious series keeps getting bigger. With the massive box office haul of Furious 7 last year, and the eighth movie expected in 2017, the release dates for Fast and Furious 9 and 10 have now been confirmed.

No Caption Provided

Lead actor and producer Vin Diesel took to Instagram to reveal that part 9 will arrive in on April 19, 2019, with part 10 following on April 2, 2021. The dates were displayed alongside the tagline: "2 decades, 10 films, 1 saga."

Diesel's plan for a further three Fast and Furious films was announced last year, when he stated: "I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga." The actor has also hinted that additional spinoff movies could be made, focusing on some of the individual characters from the action series.

Last month, Furious 8 director F. Gary Gray described the challenge of delivering something different from the previous movies in the franchise. "We're really pushing to make sure the audience feels like it's not more of the same," he told Collider. "They feel like the characters they've come to know and love are there, but this is gonna be different.

"You amp up everything, you work on the performances, you work on the story, you work on the action. It's just not one thing."

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 14, 2017.

I bet all the people criticizing this franchise go to see all the Marvel and DC trash they churn out every day in the cinemas.

Well cant be that surprised...wasn't 7 the highest grossing of the franchise? Why stop there...I stopped at 5 and doubt I'll see anymore though.

I enjoy this franchise and always will. My favourite is Fast & Furious 5, but all the others were good actions films. If some don't enjoy it, that's OK, we all like different films.

I understand the extended gap between 7 and the upcoming 8th and wish Paul Walker's family and friends the best.

I look forward to what the next film brings to the franchise :-)

And every time they announce another sequel, Diesel will use Walker's death to build hype, as he has done recently.

10 movies? Seriously, stop it.

Why not make it a freakin series already. The movie its pretty boring, same crap but different locations. The last one I enjoyed was 2Fast 2Furious the rest are pretty much "we seen it already" type. Maybe a series would be better because this movie is getting out of control.

LOL That says it all about the lives many people live these days. Hamsters too busy running on that wheel. And when they are not doing that, they want to shut down...

You are overreacting too much. Just because I like the fast series, doesn't mean that I dont like other genres.

I just know what to expect of the movies when I watch it. Cars, action, fight scenes, stunts and nice locations.

Sheesh.... Just chill for a second

@Dragokai:

Dude, I get it. It wasn't meant to be directed at you specifically, but as a overall societal observation. My hamster analogy may not be flattering but I really believe that is what is happening in our society.

There is so much distractions and demands aimed at an individual in an accelerating and complex world while a day remains 24 hours, there is no way that most of us can keep up. Something must give. Food, entertainement, just to name a few. Most people born today will never know what REALLY good food is! That's because the time and effort to grow or prepare the ingredients and the dish are not "worth" it to many people (even in restaurant). There is so many traditional food preparation techniques and dishes that are lost forever because there is no one to pass on the knowledge to. Similar with art and entertainment. Look at the videogames industry. While the industry as a whole as never been as big and profitable as today's, it's arguably in a pretty sad state. I feel lucky that we can still enjoy games like Bloodborne where the production quality is just amazing; the attention to details, the challenge, the depth, the unpredictability, level design, weapons design, monsters design, the lore, the graphics (the blood spatter algorithm is incredibly realistic; funny some reviewer mentionned the blood paintball-like spots in Rainbow Six Siege were well done. It's terrible.) etc. But it sold only 2M copies! I can't believe. It's the economics of the lowest common denominator: make something that appeals to the widest audience possible and thus make as much money as possible, at the risk of diluting the product and idea. The videogames industry turning to mobile market is perhaps another example, at a larger scale, that we are witnessing right now: trying to appeal to yet again a much wider audience -- the very casual "gamers". How long before the industry as a whole produces even less detailed, more shallow products? How many creators will still create for the honorable vocation of art and less for the profit?

@Dragokai: I can't turn off my brain that is the problem. Just a load of lame CGI crap with aweful writing.

Stopped being fun at Fast Five and even that was debatable.

Not to mention if you have to turn off all of your inhibitions to enjoy something it isn't good. The fact you people are willing to keep paying for this shit is the reason the entertainment industry is going downhill.

Games, people keep buying DLC and microtransactions even though they are rotting the industry from the inside out and people keep watching the same old tired movies so we just get more of the same crap i.e. generic superhero movie #65.

@dexda:

At the risk of sounding pretentious, I think it's simply that the brain of the average people is just not capable of coping with all the stuff that the modern world is throwing at it. Work, kids, spouse, personal finance, consumption, keeping up with society in general, etc. So it naturally wants to shut itself down and be in a quasi zombie state for all things that don't really matter, such as entertainment. The average joe wouldn't bother to sit down and spend the admittedly considerable time and effort, to say, enjoy an above-average in difficulty and complexity game -- they prefer the easier to master, instant-gratification games. Same with movies. Also, young people (teens, early tweens) go to the movies; the money is with that demographic. So the Marvel movies, F&F movies, the Michael Bay movies, all cater to this crowd. Those movies are easy to make (in terms of creative effort), risks are relatively low and the profit margins are very high.

@dysonlu: I dont know maybe you are zooming in too deep in the topic.

As I said below. It depends on my mood. If I watch the fast series I got a different mood. I expect cars, action and stuff.

That doesn't mean that I dont enjoy some plot or a nice story once a while.

@dysonlu: All true. The problem is we shouldn't stand for them cutting corners. It is their job to make the movies to an adequate quality.

Cutting content and providing half arsed rehashes should be punished but people keep going out and buying it year on year.

@dexda: if you can't turn off your brain for a movie then you should never go see any movies whatsoever.. beccuase all movies are made for entertainment , and that's what this franchise does, and does it very well..

people buy DLC and microtransactions because they want too.. who are you to judge what someone else does with their own hard earned money?.. They can do whatever the f*** they want and you can't do shit about it.. so stop whining like a b*** and don't watch movies or play games and live your boring life.

@peekaboobs: Or you know only go see the movies that are thought provoking and intelligently written.

They can do what they want as long as it doesn't effect anyone else. The problem is microtransactions and DLC DO effect everyone else. They give the developers the idea that they can cut content and give us their game in pieces without putting any effort into it.

By not using their brains they are eroding the quality of the industry.

The people who actually value the industry and have a stake in it are being shit on just because Mr. Joe zombie isn't capable of thinking ahead more than a few seconds and just buys the same old shitty rehashed games every year.

The people who value the industry are being shit on because developers are catering to the people who don't give a fart about quality.

@Dragokai: It is bigger than you that is why. The problem is widespread therefore makes it a big problem.

The fact movies like this have the revenue to make it to 10 fucking movies! Is beyond me. When in reality it should have been drowned in the river a long time ago.
