Developer Codemasters has released a new trailer for the upcoming racing game GRID Autosport, which showcases its Endurance racing.

“You can never win a race from the first corner,” member of the Oman Racing Team Ahmad Al Harthy said in the trailer, which includes both gameplay footage and interviews with professional drivers. In working on Endurance racing, Codemasters said it has consulted with professional drivers and experts at Autosport magazine to “distil the experience into scalable races, whether online or in career mode.”

The game’s extended races in Endurance events will challenge players to manage tire wear, which will affect their performance and handling, and in career mode, Endurance events are also set at night to provide an extra challenge.

In Endurance events, you’ll be able to drive contemporary and classic cars including the Aston Martin N24 V12 Zagato, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, McLaren 12C GT3, Audi R8 LMS Ultra, Lola B12/80, Shelby Cobra “Daytona” Coupe, Ford GT40 MK1 and more on race circuits like Yas Marina, Sepang and Hockenheimring.

GRID Autosport is due to launch June 24 in the U.S. (June 27 for Europe) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It's not coming to Xbox One or PlayStation 4, and that's because Codemasters did not want to "rush" it.

I had it confirmed by Codemasters on Twitter that the endurance races will be scaled down to a maximum of 40 minutes. Hardly Endurance racing

" Codemasters did not want to "rush" it."

did not want to rush it? having better graphics means you have to prolong development, not rush it.

So the true story, is theres more customers STILL on the Xbox360 and PS3 and PC than there is on the Xbox 1 and PS4. So they didnt bother and are waiting for the nextgen consoles to get more popular.

come on now, i bet thats the real reason :)

Also, TOCA 4 would be amazing, not another GRID. GRID is a nice game and its fun, but it has nothing on TOCA 3. TOCA 3 is the real deal.

It's eerie that I read the headline three times and only on the last time did I notice it said "Fast and Steady" instead of "Slow and Steady".

@hitomo TOCA 3 was the best racing game they ever did, period. Even today, the graphics look fine. There were more car series, there was actual REAL championships like V8Supercars, not just 1 or 2 tracks. The entire season of V8 supercars was in TOCA 3. DTM's. MAtter of fact, every class of racing series you could think of was in TOCA 3 , accept for Formula 1. there were so many tracks, like there must of been over 40 tracks easily in TOCA 3. There was so many championships to.

I'm enjoying Forza 5, but it lacks many of the great features that GRID has. Weather systems, Day/Night racing, different race modes and challenges, etc.

If this game is like GRID 1 I will buy it in a heartbeat

@gogoplexiorayo2 Codemasters have said that the endurance races only go up to 40 minutes, and the gameplay demo they showed off was a 3 lap 'endurance race'. They're talking more about endurance-style racing rather than endurance distances.

@gogoplexiorayo2 There will be option to save when you get tired. Lunatic would play for 24 hour non stop.

I remember my 24 Hours of Lemans games for the Dreamcast and loving the endurance race. I remember actually completing the full 24 hours one weekend. I'm looking forward to this.

For car games this gen I really want to see more tire wear and fuel management. Forza didn't really deal with tires all that much and there was never a race long enough to force you to make a pit stop for fuel. Well actually I can think of one on the Nurburgring in Forza 3. But it was less than simulation anyway.

@TERMINATOR-SSD Plus Project CARS will have endurance races up to and possibly beyond 24 hours, versus GRID which is up to 40 minutes. Bit of a difference there.

I'm glad they brought back the cockpit view, I use a wheel on my PC, it's attached to a platform I made with a big monitor acting as a windshield, the pedals sit underneath and I have a seat built that feels kind of like a bucket seat, without a windshield or cockpit view it doesn't feel right to me.

Last time I played Dirt 3 I used windshield view and it made me race way better, it's just having the screen so close giving it a feeling of depth when combined with inside the car view, I can't wait for OR to use for even more depth but until then my little racing pod will have to do, I might add two more monitors though to the sides and give it an even more realistic feel.

@kingcrimson24 To many ? I Think not. racing games is what got me back in to gaming in 2009.

first with a PS3 then a XBOX 360S now i also have a XB1 and a PS4 for drive club.

So if it wasn't for racing game's i would have missed out on a lot of fun.

@kingcrimson24 Really I hated Forza Horizon, to arcadey for me, Project Cars is where I'll be at, I'll have to wait on some more solid news or reviews on The Crew and Driveclub, they both involve new features I'm not sure will work out to well, but only time will tell.

@mkeezay22 @kingcrimson24 Horizon used the full semi-sim Forza 4 physics engine, they just put in super grippy arcadey tyres. That was the really disappointing thing to me, it felt like wasted potential.

@mkeezay22 @kingcrimson24 I didn't like Horizon either; so much so, I didn't even bother finishing it before selling it. I have a hard time believing Driveclub's physics are going to be sim enough for me, but it's free on PS+, so I can find out for myself.

FM5 doesn't have support for my Forza-branded Fanatec, GT6 continues to not get its promised features, and Project Cars has been languishing in development forever. My wheel is gathering dust.

@varmintx @mkeezay22 @kingcrimson24 Project CARS has only been in development for 2 and a half years, Forza 5 took 2 years itself.

@berserker66666 There are some parts with cockpit view in this video, but it looks low res and blurry.
