FBC: Firebreak - Release Date, Trailer, And Everything We Know
The creators of Alan Wake branch out into multiplayer mayhem.
Remedy Entertainment has built its name on gripping single-player games and twisty stories, but the studio is about to embark on something entirely new with FBC: Firebreak. Following up on the supernatural gunplay of Control, Remedy is taking that style into first-person with a cooperative shooter that focuses on tight three-player teams--while further expanding the world and story of Control.
Firebreak is the first multiplayer game ever made by Remedy, as well as its first self-published title. There's more to be revealed in the weeks leading up to launch, but for now, here’s everything we know about FBC: Firebreak.
When will FBC: Firebreak be released?
FBC: Firebreak releases on June 17, 2025. Firebreak was first announced at the Xbox Partner Preview in October 2024, although Remedy had talked about it for years before, simply as a multiplayer game called "Codename Condor."
FBC: Firebreak platforms
FBC: Firebreak is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will be included on both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, as well as Xbox Game Pass. In March 2025, Remedy said it hadn't given any thought to a Nintendo Switch 2 version, but it wouldn’t rule it out entirely.
FBC: Firebreak pricing and preorders
Firebreak is seen as a "mid-sized" title by Remedy, and because of that, it’s priced at $40. Remedy has yet to confirm when preorders will go live, but the game can be wishlisted at the store pages below:
In addition to the Standard Edition, Firebreak will also have a Deluxe Edition that costs $50. Owners of the Standard Edition can upgrade to Deluxe at a later date for an extra $10. Here's what comes in the Deluxe.
- "The Firestarter" Premium Voice Pack
- "The Pencil Pusher" Premium Voice Pack
- Firestarter Armor Set, Apex Revision (Helmet, Body Armor, Gloves)
- Scorched Remnant Double-Barrel Shotgun Skin
- Golden Firebreak Spray
- Classified Requisition: "Firestarter": A collection of 36 unlockable cosmetic items, including weapon skins, sprays, and armor sets
FBC: Firebreak file size and PC requirements
Remedy has yet to announce the file size and PC requirements for Firebreak. However, the studio has said the PC requirements will be under what the usual requirements are for Remedy games, in order to let more players experience the multiplayer game.
FBC: Firebreak story, setting, and characters
FBC: Firebreak is part of Remedy's expansive connected universe, which links most of the studio’s games together, including Alan Wake, Alan Wake 2, and Control. But Firebreak is more-directly linked to Control, taking place six years after the events of that game.
In Control, players took on the role of Jesse Faden, who becomes the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control and is tasked with combating an interdimensional entity known as The Hiss. In the five years between Control and FBC, the Bureau’s headquarters, The Oldest House, has been under constant siege from The Hiss.
Now, on the breaking point, a versatile three-person team called Firebreak fights to take back The Oldest House.
FBC: Firebreak gameplay
Firebreak is a multiplayer-gameplay-focused title, deviating a bit from Remedy’s track record of narrative games. In the cooperative shooter, teams of three players take on "Jobs," where they fight The Hiss and try to complete unique challenges, optional objectives, and more.
While Firebreak is playable in solo or duos, Remedy has stressed that the game is deliberately designed as a three-player experience. Before joining matches, players customize their Crisis Kit, choosing which tools, grenades, support items, and paranatural devices to bring into combat. As players fight for different jobs, they'll level up and unlock additional devices and loadout options.

But the jobs themselves look to be where Firebreak really embraces the weirdness of Control. Each job has some kind of unique gimmick or threat to tackle. For example, The Paper Chase job takes place in an area covered with supernatural sticky notes--creating paper monsters out of thin air and blocking players' view by sticking to their helmets.
Your team can't actually fail objectives, but Firebreak is all about efficiency and completing things quickly to get the best reward. If your team takes too long to complete an objective, you'll have to face more and more Hiss, which could end in your death alongside your allies.
Control's influence can also be seen in the array of weapons and tools you get to use. For example, one is a piggy bank attached to a stick that you can whack enemies with, creating a devastating tornado of cash afterward.
Remedy will be supporting the game post-launch with new playable content and jobs. All future playable content will be free for all players, while cosmetics are paid. Remedy has also clarified that there are no limited-time rotations for items or daily log-in bonuses.
